Celebrities Wearing Black Designers

Supporting Black-owned brands is not a new concept to ESSENCE. While these brands deserve support just like any other luxury brand, a celebrity shoutout is also a plus. Our September cover Keke Palmer wore her creative director Sergio Hudson’s design—an all-black catsuit with a circular belt buckle. Karen Huger from the cast of the Real Housewives of Potomac attended Hanifa’s first bridal presentation and she showed support by wearing a dress by the designer. Rising R&B singer Coco Jones wore an upcycled denim and sheer set designed by Sami Miro. Football star Ja’Marr Chase supported Who Decides War in a unique tunnel look a few days ago. Lastly, gospel’s queen Tasha Cobbs Leonard stunned in a blue dress by Hanifa earlier this week. 

Keke Palmer Wears Sergio Hudson 

Multi-hyphenate Keke Palmer is a risk-taker when it comes to her style. Her most recent look from a Black designer is by none other than her creative director, Sergio Hudson. He’s been refining her already fun style with looks like this all-black catsuit paired with a circular gold buckle belt. She added a pair of large gold earrings that went with the buckle detail well. 

Karen Huger Wears Hanifa 

One of our favorite Real Housewives of Potomac, Karen Huger was seen at Hanifa’s first-ever bridal runway show in a piece by the designer. Huger showed her support in a hot orange short long-sleeved flare dress. The added texture of lifted stripes and slight ruffle of the hemline gave her look dimension. She paired the short dress with a pair of gold nude heels that had a rhombus-shaped design right at the front. 

Coco Jones Wears Sami Miro 

Rising singer Coco Jones was seen on her Instagram wearing a sheer upcycled denim outfit designed by Sami Miro. The look was Y2K reminiscent but elevated. Her denim pants had mesh panels on the outsides of her thighs while her halter bralette top had two buckles with a bolero jacket. She kept it simple with her black pointed-toe heels and pair of medium-sized hoop earrings. 

Tasha Cobbs Leonard Wears Hanifa

Gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard stunned in a blue dress by Hanifa which she wore to the Dove Awards recently. Styled by J. Bolin, the piece was paired with a hat in a lighter shade of blue, oversized hoop earrings, and a stack of metallic bracelets.  

Ja’Marr Chase Wears Who Decides War

In a sleek tunnel look Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals wore a denim set by Who Decides War ahead of a game against the Seattle Seahawks. He topped off his set with denim sneakers from Nike.
