VMAs 2024: Full list of nominees and winners

The MTV VMAs 2024 are upon us, and it looks to be a big night with close races, possible broken records (the good kind) and plenty of top-notch talent taking the iconic VMAs stage.

The award show officially kicks off tonight, September 11, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m PT, broadcasting live from New York’s UBS Arena.

Eminem is slated to open the night with his first TV performance since he dropped his 12th studio LP, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace),” and Megan Thee Stallion — nominated for seven Moon Person awards this year — will host, following Nicki Minaj’s turn as emcee last year.

Speaking of 2023, Taylor Swift is again at the top of the heap with the most nominations. The head of “The Tortured Poets Department” is up for 12 VMA nominations this year, beating her 11 noms in 2023 (9 of which she won).

Swift could make history if she takes home the Video of the Year award, a feat that would make her the first person to win the top prize five times. In doing so, she’d also be breaking her own record.

The Eras phenom is followed closely in the nomination field by her “Fortnight” collaborator, Post Malone, who earned 11 nominations this year. Eminem racked up 8 noms; Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter and SZA are up for 7 each; and Benson Boone, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli xcx, GloRilla, LISA, Olivia Rodrigo and Teddy Swims all are in contention for 4 VMAs.

This year’s awards will feature performances from Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, LISA, Halsey, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Benson Boone, Lenny Kravitz, Anitta (ft Fat Joe, DJ Khaled + Tiago PZK), Karol G, LL Cool J, Shawn Mendes and Katy Perry, who will perform a career-spanning medley of her biggest hits as she accepts MTV’s Video Vanguard Award.

In recognition of the broadcast taking place on the 23rd anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, MTV plans to donate to the nonprofit 9/11 Day, which organizes the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, and Tuesday’s Children, which serves the families of 9/11.

The full list of nominees is below. We’ll be updating winners throughout the night so be sure to check back often!
