‘Succession’ star tells Joe Biden to drop out of presidential race: ‘He has to understand, he’s not it’

She wants a succession plan.

“Succession” star Cherry Jones is urging President Joe Biden to end his 2024 re-election bid, saying he can’t defeat Donald Trump at the ballot box in November.

“I absolutely think he must step down,” the 67-year-old Democrat defiantly told The Guardian. “There’s many viable roads to winning, really, I do believe that – but Biden has to understand, he’s not it.”

Jones — a stage and small-screen legend who boasts two Tony Awards and three Emmy Awards — called the current situation a “tragedy.”

“People are desperate to have a choice they can enthusiastically go to the poll for,” the actress opined. “I think almost any young, honorable… reasonably honorable… somewhat honorable… a fraction of an honorable person would beat Donald Trump.”

The actress — who has also appeared in “24,” “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Transparent” — is currently in London preparing to star in stage adaptation of “The Grapes of Wrath.”

Jones told The Guardian she admired Biden, but believed no president was “a king.”

“When I left America a couple of months ago, I left a country where there were no kings,” she stated.

Presumably referring to the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on presidential immunity, she continued: “Now I’ll be returning to a country where every president has the right to do whatever they want to do.”

Cherry is not the Hollywood star to call on Biden to end his bid for re-election, amid alarming poll numbers and reports about his cognitive decline.

The actress previously starred alongside George Clooney in “The Perfect Storm” and “Ocean’s Twelve.”

Earlier this month, Clooney — a prominent Democrat donor — penned an op-ed published in The New York Times calling on Biden to withdraw.

“We are not going to win in November with this president,” the actor bluntly declared.

“This isn’t only my opinion; this is the opinion of every senator and Congress member and governor that I’ve spoken with in private. Every single one, irrespective of what he or she is saying publicly.”
