Celebrities who backed Prince William and Princess Kate

Prince William and Princess Kate have the support of high-profile celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, Tom Cruise, and more.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are among the most popular royal family members in Britain and the United States, according to polling, and they also have support from famous names.

Most recently, William took Prince George and Princess Charlotte to see Taylor Swift and got selfies with the singer backstage.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

Prince William made sure George and Charlotte got the chance to meet Swift, her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, and his brother, former NFL star Jason Kelce, at Wembley Stadium in London during her June 21 Eras Tour stop.

If the pictures from their meeting showing George and Charlotte grinning ear-to-ear with the pop superstar didn’t do enough to show how much both sides enjoyed the meeting, the Kelce brothers discussed the experience on their podcast, New Heights.

“I got there early and got to meet Prince William,” Travis said. “Dude, he was the coolest motherf*****. He was so cool.”

Jason added: “Prince William was fantastic, but the highlight was Princess Charlotte. Prince George was great, too. She was so f****** adorable. Like, I cannot express how… I don’t know, maybe it’s because I have three girls now. She had fire to her, she was asking questions it was, that was the most electric part.”

Tom Cruise

Cruise has met the royals many times, but William and Kate’s appearance at the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in May 2022 became iconic due to Cruise’s determination to hold the princess’ hand.

Social media users commented on the deft way in which Kate switched her clutch bag so he could not take her hand again.

Clearly, though, there was no ill will as William rekindled their love at a gala in support of the London Air Ambulance Charity in February.

“I should also take this opportunity to give a mention to my—our—fellow pilot, Tom Cruise. Tom, huge thanks for supporting us tonight,” William said. “And if you wouldn’t mind not borrowing either of the new helicopters for the next Mission: Impossible, it would be appreciated.

“We have all seen on our screens that—how can I put it—you seem to have a different take on ‘normal wear and tear’ to the rest of us. It’s not the kind that buffs out, that’s for sure.”

Shakira

The singer was on William’s Earthshot Prize Council, which picks the winners of his climate change awards, before stepping down in 2023.

Needless to say, she has been highly positive in interviews, telling Glamour UK in 2021: “Seeing Prince William’s passion and how genuinely determined he is to provoke change is very, very inspiring.

“It’s just incredible to see how committed he is, and all the people at Earthshot are, to make change happen in the world in such a short amount of time,” she said.

“And it’s not impossible. It requires many of us, plenty of commitment and determination, and we need to raise awareness towards that.”

Roger Federer

Princess Kate is a big fan of tennis and a regular at Wimbledon due to her role as patron of the All England Club, which hosts the tournament.

She even got the chance to play with Federer during a Wimbledon event designed to promote the key part that ball boys and girls play in making the Grand Slam possible.

The promotional video certainly made the pair look like they got a decent rally together. At one point, Kate even sent a shot flying past the eight-time Wimbledon champion.

Federer suggested the shot was “amazing.”

Sir David Attenborough

The world-famous naturalist has a long-standing relationship with the British royal family, and Prince William is no exception.

Sir David remains an Earthshot Prize Council member and praised William for creating the project during a video interview in February 2023.

“It’s a marvelous idea; nobody seems to have thought of it before. What put it in your mind?” he asked the prince.

William replied: “We’ve reached a tipping point with Earth, and over the next 10 years, there’s a real decade of change, and if we don’t get our act together over the next 10 years, by 2030, we’ve… it’s too late.

“So for me, it felt like a really important moment where it was, you know, really the future of humankind in the balance,” he said.

Rebel Wilson

The comedian dealt William and Kate an awkward moment in 2020 when she made a joke about Prince Andrew at the Royal Albert Hall while hosting the BAFTAs, which counts the prince as president.

However, she later told The Sun: “I did speak to Kate and William’s private secretary after the BAFTAs and all seemed fine.”

She has since spoken positively about them: “They actually have a really great sense of humor. People think [they do not] because of their position, but they like to laugh as well.”

Sharon and Kelly Osbourne

Princess Kate had a difficult start to 2024 after being caught up in a frenzy of social media speculation after a prolonged period out of the public eye following abdominal surgery and treatment for cancer.

Kelly Osbourne said on her family’s The Osbournes podcast: “I think that [Kate has] handled every step of this journey so far with such dignity and grace, and I think that what was happening to her prior to her coming out was so disgusting.”

Sharon also denounced a backlash against Kate for editing a Mother’s Day photo in multiple places in March.

“On Mother’s Day—it was Mother’s Day in England—and [Kate] had a picture taken just holding the kids, and she was sat down, and the kids were around her, and she had an arm around here, and an arm around here, and somebody was examining the picture and goes ‘oh it’s ridiculous, she’s photoshopped this picture,'” Sharon said.
