Most brides opt for a classic long white or ivory wedding dress during their romantic nuptials, however some celebrities tend to push the fashion boundaries and shock fans with daring looks.
But on Monday Susan Sarandon‘s daughter Eva Amurri hit back at critics who were left ‘scandalised’ by her low-cut wedding dress.
The 39-year-old actress and lifestyle blogger took to Instagram to share several images from her wedding to chef Ian Hock, which took place on Saturday, describing her nuptials as ‘the most special day filled with so much love’.
However, at the same time, the mother-of-three hit out at critics of her bustier-style Kim Kassas wedding gown – taking aim at those who said her breasts should have been ‘put away’.
Sharing a photo of herself and Hock, she wrote, ‘And to anyone scandalized by my breasts not being “put away”…’ before adding a close up shot of her cleavage with the caption, ‘feel free to screenshot this for later’ along with a kiss emoji.
Amurri purchased the corseted design at Bridal Reflections in New York City, and told People of her gown, ‘I wanted to feel sexy but elegant, and I think the dress strikes the perfect balance.’
‘I love how it has a vintage feel and is ultra feminine without being overly pouffy,’ she added.
Following the ceremony, she changed into a second look of the night: a minidress, also designed by Kim Kassas, and featuring a feather trim and lace.
Celebrity stylist Rochelle White told FEMAIL: ‘When it comes to wedding dresses some celebrities do it well,’ noting Kourtney Kardashian’s Dolce & Gabbana satin corset mini frock ‘that suited the look she was going for’.
The reality star, 45, whose wedding was sponsored by the fashion house, married her rocker beau, 48, in an alfresco ceremony at the medieval Castello Brown fortress in Portofino, Italy.
According to details shared on the D&G Instagram page, the show stopping dress took inspiration from the iconic figures of the Italian lingerie and la dolce vita.
It explained how Kourtney’s corset enhanced her silhouette thanks rich design and exquisite cuts, with expert tailoring techniques to emphasize her femininity.
Her trailing veil which was complete with floral lace appliqué was inspired by the flowers of the Portofino gardens, while it also featured a hand-embroidered with a large depiction of the Virgin Mary and the words ‘family loyalty respect.’
The embroidery used the cross stich technique and the words are a nod to Travis’ tattoo, which is a symbol of ‘alliance, respect and common devotion’.
Rochelle also added: ‘Gwen Stefani also rocked a more rock n roll look when it came to her wedding dress and style.
‘She looked classy but also had her signature rock n roll style.’
Gwen Stefani walked down the aisle in a custom Vera Wang wedding dress during her nuptials to Blake Shelton in 2021.
The pop star, 54, glowed wearing a sweetheart gown with a chic cut away back, fitted bodice and floor-length tulle skirt for the ceremony at the couple’s Oklahoma ranch.
And she paid tribute to the most important people in her life with her one-of-a-kind couture ensemble.
According to People, the Bathwater songstress’s chapel length veil featured the embroidered names of Stefani, Shelton, and Stefani’s sons, Kingston James McGregor, Zuma Nesta Rock and Apollo Bowie Flynn.
However, stylist Rochelle found that one look which ‘wasn’t so on trendy or fashion led’ was Pamela Anderson’s infamous wedding bikini during her 2009 nuptials to Kid Rock.
Other memorable misses include TV presenter Cilla Black donning a bright red mini dress and white tights for her wedding to Bobby Willis in January 1969, and Rita Wilson’s satin ensemble when she and Tom Hanks tied the knot back in 1988.
Here, Rochelle gives her verdict on which daring celeb wedding dresses were successes or fails…
