Below Deck’s Biggest Celebrity Fans

Celebrities, they’re just like us – they love their Bravo shows! Over the years, more and more stars gush over the various Real Housewives series. For instance, Tilda Swinton recently attended one of Luann de Lesseps’ cabaret shows.

Like The Housewives, Below Deck is one of Bravo’s flagship series. Even people who aren’t drawn to other Bravo shows, or reality TV in general, can’t get enough. Including spin-offs like Below Deck Med. Naturally, this means a ton of different celebs watch the show. We’ve rounded up a few of the franchise’s most vocal and famous fans.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence may be the most famous Bravo fan. In fact, she’s set to star in a Real Housewives-inspired murder mystery movie. She’s never held back on her opinions, which even led to drama with some Bravo stars.

Naturally, the Oscar winner checks out all of the channel’s offerings. In 2023, during one of her many appearances on Watch What Happens Live, the actress said, “I just finished all the Below Decks.” Viewers know that’s quite the feat.

Christina Applegate

Christina Applegate regularly mentions her Bravo fandom. When it comes to Below Deck, she’s a loyal viewer of every series in the franchise. The actress said her fandom turned into friendship after interacting with the stars in DMs.

In 2022, the Emmy winner even got a special message of support from Captain Lee Rosbach on the Kelly Clarkson Show. Amidst her MS battle, Captain Lee encouraged Christina to stay strong.

Chrissy Teigen

In 2018, Chrissy Teigen and Below Deck Med’s Hannah Ferrier mutually fangirled over one another when they had a Malibu run-in. Former BDM star Hannah documented the moment on her Instagram.

Seth Rogen

Seth Rogen, who is also a famous Vanderpump Rules fan, regularly geeks out about Below Deck. “The moral of Below Deck is, if you rent a yacht, you’re a douchebag, a giant piece of garbage” he joked during a 2019 WWHL appearance. The Long Shot star continued, “Every episode…they’re trying, they’re dressing up like f*cking idiots for these people, and no one’s happy.”

In 2020, Seth also gushed about the show to Jimmy Fallon. However, don’t expect him to pop up as a charter guest. “They’re always trying to get me to go on it, which I say no to all the time,” he revealed. Doubling down on his WWHL comments, Seth explained that, by chartering a yacht, “no matter what…you are the antagonist on the show.” Clearly, the screenwriter loves Below Deck too much to serve as an antagonist.

He also wants to avoid the hefty price tag. “They still want you to pay to go on the cruise! Which is crazy!” Seth continued, “Bravo is literally sending me emails asking me to pay 40 grand to be on an episode of one of their TV shows.” While he called this “psychotic,” the actor added, “If that is the business model for Below Deck, I understand why there are so many of them, because that’s a good business.”

Anthony Mackie

The new Captain America loves Captain Lee! On a WWHL appearance with Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie revealed he also watches the Bravo series. “Everyone in the crew is really attractive,” said the Avengers: Endgame star, “even the Captain [Lee] dude that’s like Santa Claus. Even he’s really attractive, great beard.”

T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach

After their affair was discovered, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach had a scandal straight out of reality TV. The former Good Morning America co-hosts later claimed Bravo helped them through the backlash. When they welcomed Captain Lee as a guest on an episode of their podcast, Amy credited Below Deck as something that “got us through the last year.”

Steven Soderbergh

Even legendary directors can’t get enough of Below Deck. Director Steven Soderbergh raved about the series for years and explained why to Rolling Stone. “It’s about problem-solving at work when you’ve got huge personality clashes, class issues,” the filmmaker said, “and talk about intimate! The way that these people live on these boats, even these big boats, is crazy!”

“For anybody who has any kind of job, how you get along with your coworkers and how you feel about getting along with your colleagues is a big part of your life. We spend a lot of our lives at work,” he continued. “I’m fascinated by the group dynamics in watching the show,” the Erin Brockovich director explained, “Especially when you watch somebody self-destruct. You watch a person, and you go, ‘If you’d literally done nothing, you would be in a better situation than you are now. You actively made this worse.’ That’s fascinating to me.”

Jeremy Allen White

Jeremy Allen White, one of Hollywood’s hottest new leading men, told Buzzfeed that Below Deck is a guilty pleasure. The Emmy winner loves that “you can pop in at any time” because there are so many seasons.

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler recently spoke about her Below Deck fandom to Cosmo UK. Like Steven Soderbergh, the comedian appreciates the work aspect of the show. “The reason why I like it is ’cause I like the job that everybody has to do,” she said, adding, “I care about whether or not they turn the boat over. I want to watch them clean the bathrooms and stuff. That’s what I’m into.”

Judging by her next comments, the Inside Out 2 star isn’t a fan of shows like Real Housewives. “I don’t get it with reality shows where everyone sits around and there’s no job, they just go to dinner,” she said. “That gets me very stressed.”

Amy added that her dream job would be captain. “I do not know how to drive a boat, so I feel like that would get in the way,” she joked. “You wouldn’t know at first. I’d fake it for a couple of days, I think, but then I’d get fired.” Sounds like the Below Deck captains’ jobs are safe for now.
