New York weather is giving peak early summer, and since I’m already sweating every time I leave the air-conditioning, I’m okay with that. This week, indie films took over the local theaters for the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival, and the corresponding Chanel celebrations brought out everyone from Kerry Washington to Greta Lee. Them’s 2024 Now Awards drew some of the biggest queer celebrities, and our very own fashion news writer Danya Issawi presented the fashion award to GmbH co-founder Benjamin Alexander Huseby. Meanwhile, singer and actress Teyana Taylor debuted fire-red hair at M.A.C’s Viva Glam Billion Dollar Ball. Below, what all your favorite celebrities wore this week.
Best Dressed Overall: The Prada Group
Nothing is more fashionable than caring about humanity. This month, for the first time, the United Nations’ Ocean Literacy World Conference took place in Venice. The Prada Group and UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, which organized the panel, have partnered since 2019 to develop an educational program aimed at raising awareness about the health and protection of the ocean. Chic!
Best-Dressed Runner-Up: Greta Lee
Resident look-server Greta Lee stunned in a Chanel set and teeny-tiny purse at the brand’s Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner at Balthazar.
Best Accessorized: Teyana Taylor
Not only did Taylor show off a new hairstyle, she also accessorized smartly, playing with the silver zippers on her dress and using one as a necklace and face piece during the M.A.C Viva Glam Billion Dollar Ball. It’s safe to say she’s a silver girl.
Best Linkup: Willy Chavarria and Offset
The New York designer and the rapper met up to celebrate the launch of the Willy Chavarria x The Patron Saints capsule collection, both looking casual yet cool for the occasion.
Best Botany: Maya Hawke
Velvet clothing in the summer doesn’t always work, but Maya Hawke looks great in this deep-cut green dress at the world premiere of Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2. You’d never guess that the actress voices the emotion of anxiety!
Best Risk-Taker: Devery Jacobs
I love a patterned suit, and this red plaid number worn by Devery Jacobs at the 2024 Them Now Awards left me coming back to look at it again and again. We love it when people dress out of the box, and this is exactly that.
Best Styling: Ganna Bogdan
Model Ganna Bogdan plays with color theory and layering at Silk Laundry’s first U.S. store opening cocktail party in Los Angeles.
Best Tastemakers: Taisja Harrell and Vernon O’Meally
Guests such as Harrell and O’Meally came dressed in all the latest trends, like Wales Bonner x Adidas and layering skirts over pants, for the the Glass House Summer Party and 75th Anniversary in Connecticut.
Most on Theme: Coco Baudelle
Model and filmmaker Coco Baudelle matched the sleek designs of the bags with an oversize black blazer at the Savette dinner in New York.
