Tom Cruise back in Mallorca … briefly

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise was in Mallorca last month and he returned on Sunday for what turned out to be a brief stop of no more than five hours.

The 61-year-old actor flew in on his private jet from Seville and landed in Palma around noon. The reason for the brief trip is not known, though there are suggestions that Mallorca has been chosen for a film project. Cruise is currently involved with the filming of the eighth Mission Impossible.

When he was in Mallorca in May, he was seen accompanied by Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu. They were on a yacht in the Pollensa area. On Sunday he was accompanied by stunt coordinator Wade Eastwood.

The Hollywood superstar first visited Mallorca back in 1998 alongside his then wife, Nicole Kidman. They arrived aboard a luxury yacht and the Mission Impossible star played tennis at the Hotel Formentor before heading for lunch with Michael Douglas at his home between Deya and Valldemossa.

If Tom Cruise was to make a move on the island it would be a dream come true for the local film industry.
