As the trend of rejecting hookup culture grows, being a “volcel,” a voluntarily celibate, is becoming more popular. As a result, more and more people are openly discussing their choice to abstain from sex and be come celibate or in TikTok terms: boysober. While the trend is gaining popularity, there are quite a few celebrities who have been vocal about this choice for years.

Everyone can have their own personal reason for abstaining from sex. For example, Insecure‘s Yvonne Orji has had a number of sex scenes on the hit HBO show, but still chooses to abstain from sex until marriage in her personal life. Justin Bieber also abstained from sex before meeting his future wife, Hailey Bieber, as a way to rededicate himself to God.
