Catherine Zeta-Jones’ daughter Carys turns 21… and wears her mother’s famous dress

It’s not something you normally see, but it won’t be the last time it happens in Hollywood. Like mother like daughter, Carys is following in her mother Catherine Zeta-Jones’ footsteps.

One of Hollywood’s greatest actresses of recent times, Zeta-Jones is sure to have a great wardrobe due to her successful career as a movie star, as well as being married to actor Michael Douglas.

And now, their daughter Carys has been seen wearing one of her mother’s dresses – some 25 years after her mother did it – to mark her 21st birthday.

A well-celebrated coming of age

In the United States, despite being able to drive at 16 in most states and vote in presidential elections at 18, 21 is the legal age at which a person can drink alcohol in that country, and many consider that to be a ‘coming of age’ moment in the life of an American.

That seemed to be the case for Carys, who celebrated the occasion of her birthday with a party, wearing a dress her mother had already worn back in 1999.

It was a garment in which Zeta-Jones triumphed a quarter of a century ago on the red carpet of the MTV Awards and which bears the signature of the designer Ungaro.

The dress has a floral print on the torso and is made of silk and lace, and Catherine, 54, dazzled when she wore it.

Zeta-Jones co-hosted the MTV Gala with Ricky Martin. Now, a quarter of a century later, her daughter Carys has left a long-lasting impression in the same outfit.

The youngster posted on social media showing gratitude for her birthday celebrations, and her mother responded with a heartfelt message to her daughter.

“The most perfect 21 I could ask for!”, Carys wrote after the celebration in the post she uploaded to Instagram, as Catherine replied: “You deserve it sweetheart”.
