There’s No Doubt that people were feeling “Hella Good.”
Gwen Stefani and No Doubt reunited for the first time in nearly a decade at Coachella 2024, leaving several fans losing their heads over the long-awaited reunion.
“It’s been nine f–king years!” the frontwoman exclaimed on stage to a roaring crowd. “I was thinking we should dust off some of the old s–t.”
Rocking a sheer black and white top, Stefani, bassist Tony Kanal, guitarist Tom Dumont and drummer Adrian Young took the stage to perform an 80-minute set that featured several of the band’s hits such as “Don’t Speak,” “It’s My Life,” and “Hella Good.”
During the performance Stefani, 54, donned one of her iconic plaid outfits, complete with zippers, fishnets and her signature red lipstick.
Fans of the rock group were treated to an even greater surprise when Olivio Rodrigo, wearing a crop top that read “I <3 ND>
Just prior to her appearance at the music festival, Rodrigo, 21, cited No Doubt as a source of inspiration for her own music.
“Gwen’s ability to evolve and explore different styles of music, songwriting and aesthetic while still remaining true to herself is incredibly inspiring,” the “Vampires” singer said to Nylon.
“To me, she’s a prime example of an artist who defies stereotypes and preconceived boundaries and just makes stuff that she thinks is cool. If that’s not a true artist, I don’t know what is.”
“Gwen sang about being a woman moving about this world in detail that I had never before heard put to music,” said Rodrigo. “She unapologetically sings about things ranging from wanting to make out with someone to fantasizing about having a husband and kids. There’s so much heart in every word she says, and every song feels like it’s ripped from the diary of the coolest girl you know.”
Several social media users dubbed the performance as “iconic.”
“OLIVIA RODRIGO AND NO DOUBT PERFORMING BATH WATER IS SO ICONIC,” one user on X exclaimed.
“Their entire set was f–king flawless,” a second user stated.
“Ok I’ll even admit that seeing No Doubt performing again for the first time in 9 years is pretty cool even if it’s a cash grab at Coachella,” stated a third person.
“Gwen Stefani/No Doubt Superbowl when?” a fourth person asked.
Last week, Steani told Nylon that she regretted pursuing her career with the band and “should have just been with” her sons — Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 10 — instead of working.
The “Hollaback Girl” songstress told that outlet that, at the time, she was “trying to please” her bandmates.
“I’d be like, ‘Oh my God … I didn’t have dinner with my family, and I didn’t write a song,’” she recalled to the magazine. “‘I wasted an entire day of my life trying to be in No Doubt again.’”
Stefani, who was married to Gavin Rossdale at the time, said that she had “nothing left in” her while touring and working on the band’s 2012 album, “Push and Shove.”
“Things change when you have two babies. … I had no ideas. I had so much insecurity. I felt like — help,” she explained adding that she felt creatively “dead” after her eldest son’s birth and further left everyone “disappointed” when she announced that Zuma was on the way.
“I don’t think they would say that,” she said of her fellow band members. “No one’s going to be mad you’re having a baby. But while I was busy, they were kind of waiting.”
