Margot Robbie leads star parade at Breakthrough Prize ceremony

Margot Robbie, Jessica Chastain, Olivia Wilde and Brie Larson lent their megawatt glamour to the star-studded 10th Annual Breakthrough Prize ceremony this week.

Thrown at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, the glittering event is held in honor of those who have made accomplishments in math and science, with each awardee getting $3 million, according to a press release.

But in spite of its focus outside of showbiz, the swank gala reliably draws a cavalcade of A-list celebrities to troupe across the red carpet and hand out the prizes.

Hosted by James Corden, this year’s formal affair drew a formidable audience of boldface names, including none other than Margot, who was decked out in a swirling black gown.

Fresh off the thunderous billion-dollar triumph of her Barbie movie last year, Margot glowed while treating the photographers to her luminous smile on the red carpet.

Margot opted for a sleeveless number that hinted at her cleavage and was cinched in to emphasize her hourglass frame, with ruching around the waistline to amplify the effect.

Letting her signature blonde hair tumble freely over her shoulders, she accentuated her unmistakable screen siren features with naturalistic makeup that emphasized her radiant complexion.

The Wolf Of Wall Street star brought the look together with a pair of matching gold bracelets, both designed in a geometric motif that carried a whiff of Art Deco.

Jessica meanwhile swathed her willowy frame in a floor-length royal purple gown covered in sequins, bringing back a retro showbiz flair reminiscent of the 1970s.

Her plunging bias-cut frock allowed her to flash a bit of cleavage, and was perfectly fitted to throw the A Most Violent Year star’s slender physique into sharp relief.

She complemented the dress with dark nail polish and ramped up the glitz factor by accessorizing with a dazzling bejeweled drop necklace for her latest night out on the town. 

Olivia on the other hand flashed the flesh in a peekaboo gown that featured a dangerously high thigh-slit, allowing to her not only to flash a bit of leg but also to hint at her derriere.

With cutouts at the sides to play up her taut midriff, Olivia’s turtleneck dress was a monochrome affair, with black at the front and white at the back, in contrast to her blood-red nail polish.

The actress turned director, who scored a smash hit with her 2022 picture Don’t Worry Darling starring her then-boyfriend Harry Styles, wore her caramel hair down in silky, gentle waves.

Lending her outfit an extra touch of sparkle with a set of drop earrings, Olivia completed the look by balancing expertly on a towering pair of black ankle-strap stilettos.

Brie, who is part of the celebrity-strewn lineup of presenters assembled for the evenings festivities, brought a touch of spring to the proceedings in a pastel floral gown.

Her sleeveless frock featured a mock turtleneck and fell flatteringly over her petite frame as she swanned about the red carpet, flashing a beatific smile for the cameras. 

Perhaps the highest-profile presenter that evening was Kim Kardashian, who put her world-renowned curves on display in a skintight white gown that served up a generous helping of cleavage.

She hit the red carpet that evening on the arm of her black-clad mother Kris Jenner, who made the phrase ‘momager’ famous in her role as the matriarch of the Kardashian-Jenner clan.

Stars abounded on the red carpet, where Lizzo could be seen in a strapless black gown with a futuristic cowl, Michelle Yeoh was corporate chic in a white trouser suit and Glenn Close rocked a shimmery dull gold ensemble.

Adam Levine and his supermodel wife Behati Prinsloo were the image of marital bliss at the Breakthrough Award gala, proving they had successfully placed his sexting scandal in the past.

Couples galore turned the evening into a date night, from Zoe Saldana who attended the fete on the arm of her husband Marco Perego, to Charlie Puth who was joined by his fiancée Brooke Sansone. 

Maria Sharapova was the image of Old Hollywood elegance on the evening’s red carpet, modeling a metallic full-sleeved gowns that featured raised shoulders and a throwback sash at the waist.

Edgar Ramirez opted for the classic look of a midnight blue tuxedo, Da’Vine Joy Randolph was a sight to see in a sequined minidress and Venus Williams made a splash in bubblegum pink.

Alicia Keys, resplendent in a shimmering gold number that fell trendily off the shoulder at one side, strolled across the red carpet hand in hand with her besuited husband Swizz Beatz.

Meanwhile Katy Perry slipped into a simple black gown that matched her steamy husband Orlando Bloom, who could be seen lovingly clasping her hand as the shutterbugs snapped away at them.

Top business tycoons could also be spotted scattered among the celebrities, such as Elon Musk who mugged for the camera or Bill Gates who arrived with his girlfriend Paula Hurd. 

Robert Downey Jr, another one of the top-flight list of presenters at the Breakthrough Prize gala, shared a laugh on the red carpet with his wife of nearly two decades Susan Downey. 

Edward Norton cut a dapper figure in a black suit with a matching tie and bowler hat, cozying up for the camera to his wife Shauna Robertson, who was clad in head-to-toe black.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins was also on hand for the Breakthrough Prize, which she attended alongside her husband, The Disaster Diaries author Sam Sheridan. 

Bradley Cooper was also part of the A-list guest list, and for his latest red carpet he brought along his seven-year-old daughter Lea De Seine, whom he shares with Russian model Irina Shayk.

Movie producer Brian Grazer, whose filmography includes such titles as A Beautiful Mind and Apollo 13, hit the red carpet with his fourth wife Veronica Smiley, whom he went down the aisle with in 2016. 

Damien Chazelle, the director of such critically acclaimed fare as Whiplash and La La Land, could be spotted alongside his wife Olivia Hamilton, who features in his films.
