Even in death, OJ Simpson remains one of our most polarising celebrities

Did he, didn’t he? The death of OJ Simpson has reignited the debate over whether the former NFL star is, or was, guilty of murder.

What has happened:

OJ Simpson has died from cancer at the age of 76.
Simpson was acquitted of the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend Ron Goldman in 1995.
He was found liable for their deaths, however, in a civil suit in 1997.
In 2008 he was sentenced to 33 years imprisonment for kidnapping and armed robbery.
The former NFL player and Naked Gun co-star was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer which he announced in 2023.
The death of OJ Simpson reminds us there are a number of people who will always believe he was innocent despite the prevailing sentiment of his guilt, as well as those who believe he was guilty of the 1994 murders despite his acquittal.
Public statements regarding his death have ranged from mournful to mocking.
The Simpson family has requested privacy during this period.
