Meghan Markle’s telling change for Archetypes podcast shows royal intent

Meghan Markle‘s new image for her freshly relaunched Archetypes podcast is thought to indicate the Duchess of Sussex’s ‘celebrity status’, according to an expert.

The Archetypes podcast has been released following the former Suits actress new deal with Lemonada, and following her dramatic split from her Spotify agreement. The podcast’s previous 13 episodes featuring various celebrity guests including Mariah Carey, Jameela Jamil and Mindy Kaling are now available to listeners.

The new cover sees the same black-and-white image of Meghan staring down the lens of a camera while wearing a white vest top. However, the podcast title, Archetypes with Meghan, sits above with purple hues instead of the previous green offering, while the Lemonada brand is prominent in the bottom corner. A body language expert has revealed what the black and white photograph means and says it indicates Meghan’s fresh focus on her ‘celebrity status’.

The Duchess of Sussex’s 13 previous episodes are now available for listeners

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Judi James explained: “The photo itself suggests a calm confidence and low key power. Meghan’s nearly-nude face and white vest combo is currently very much on-trend with celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez. It’s a counter-intuitive fashion statement that they use to signal a ‘stripped-back- to-basics’ look of emotional honesty and ‘purity’ of spirit. When an A-lister starts doing this look you just know they will soon be pitching some life homilies at the fans.”

Judi also noted that Meghan’s body positioning also indicates that she will be sharing some of her own stories and experiences in the forthcoming episodes as she added: “Meghan leans slightly into camera to create a look of sharing one-to-one. There is the partial barrier of one bent arm but her tentative, subtle smile suggests she will be spilling as much about herself and her own experiences as she will be listening. It’s a softly attractive look that manages to combine presenter confidence with some traces of emotional vulnerability.”

As Meghan alongside husband Harry aims to elevate the Sussex brand with its new website and securing big brand deals, the way the Archetypes promo photograph is shot is also thought to be indicative of the couple’s “celebrity upgrade”. Judi continued: “The switch in layout and colour might look subtle but it is also telling. This layout now has the format of a cover of a glossy magazine, featuring rather than framing Meghan, which gives her a status and celebrity upgrade. The green tint has been replaced by a purple one. Purple is traditionally the colour of royalty so the hint about her royal status and connections has been intensified.”

Meghan Markle is reported to be focusing heavily on building the Sussex brand for her and Prince Harry over in the US, continuing their work since leaving the royal family in 2020 as working royals. The couple are still in limbo over whether their $20m Netflix deal will be renewed when the contract ends next year, and they are ploughing on with other endeavours including relaunching the Archetypes podcast.

The Duchess of Sussex has revealed she is “thrilled” to announce the series has been released on all platforms following her dramatic split from her Spotify agreement. It’s described again as a “podcast where we investigate, dissect, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back,” and all 13 episodes will once again be available now she has relaunched with Lemonada.

It comes a month after she revealed she had signed a new deal with Lemonada following the cancellation of her and Harry’s lucrative $20million with streaming giants Spotify. In a statement last month, Meghan said: “I’m proud to now be able to share that I am joining the brilliant team at Lemonada to continue my love of podcasting.”
