Gillie Da Kid Sounds Off On NBA All-Star Weekend Celebrity Game Snub

Gillie Da Kid expected to be on the court with Kai Cenat and Micah Parsons during the Celebrity Game at NBA All-Star Weekend, but the league had other plans. The 40-year-old has now sounded off on his exclusion from the annual spectacle.

The Million Dollaz Worth Of Game host believed that his appearance in the game would have made it the highlight of what is being called the worst NBA All-Star Weekend ever. “The celebrity game would get more views than the All-Star Game but they won’t put me in there,” he said during his recent appearance on All The Smoke UNPLUGGED. He claimed that he was initially told he would be participating before plans changed.

“Our assistant was talking to people from the league,” he said. “I was told that I was playing in the game and I was going to be mic’d up. The motherf**king list came out with the players and I wasn’t on it.”

Stephen Jackson suggested that the NBA doubled back on their invitation to Gillie Da Kid for political reasons, citing their beef with Ice Cube’s BIG3 league and Gillie’s participation in their Celebrity Game.

“So you mean to tell me it’s because I was MVP two years in a row in the African American league?” Gillie jokingly asked. “So you telling me that the MVP of the Negro League can’t get no [love]? So you saying I’m Blackie Robinson?” Watch the full All The Smoke UNPLUGGED episode above.

The Department of Justice began investigating the NBA for violating antitrust laws and attempting to interfere with the BIG3 league’s operations back in October. TMZ Sports reported claims that the basketball powerhouse used its “power and influence” to hinder the BIG3 from working with specific sponsors, television networks, players, and more.
