Grammy award-winning artist Michael Bublé was named a team captain for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Bublé expressed his excitement for the new role.

“I love hockey,” he said. “I’m a big fan of the game and I always love representing my country and my passion for the sport… I was thrilled to say yes to this opportunity.”

The other celebrity captains include Will Arnett, Justin Bieber and Tate McRae.

“I wish they would call me the ‘Great One,’ but they already use that for [Wayne] Gretzky, so I’ll take the ‘Good One’ or the ‘Adequate One,’” Bublé joked.

“This is like every kid’s dream… Are you kidding me? Every kid who loves the NHL,” he added. “Imagine you get to go and sit with the greatest players in the world. We get to be part of choosing the all-Star team that is going to be competing against each other? That’s crazy!”

Bublé shared his excitement on social media. The Canadian singer wrote, “Amped for the NHL All-Star game! My dream of becoming a pro died when I realized I wasn’t good 😂 so I switched gears and just bought a team instead. Shoutout to the Vancouver Giants for allowing me to warm up before the big game this weekend!”

In another post, he added, “Epic first day at the NHL All Star tournament! Feeling more than confident with my team.”

Bublé will be assisted by brothers Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks and Jack Hugh, who plays for the New Jersey Devils.

“We got a lot of the guys that it was important for us to take,” Jack told the NHL regarding team selection. “So, we had fun with that, and I think we have a good team.”

“The All-Star Game is always fun because you get to meet new people, too,” Quinn added. “So, I think we wanted to have a combination of a guy like Kucherov, who is maybe the best player in the world, and we were able to draft him and also some guys on each of our respective teams.”

The All-Star game aired on Feb. 3.
