WENATCHEE — Six local celebrities will compete in Dancing with the Wenatchee Stars this Saturday to raise money for nonprofit organizations.
Each contestant will partner with a professional dancer from the Utah Ballroom Dance Company to learn a 90 second ballroom dance routine over the course of one week. While there promises to be a panel of surprise judges, the winner of the dance trophy will be voted on by the audience. However, the contestant who raises the most money for their nonprofit prior to the day of the competition will receive an extra 5% of votes. Donations can be made online.
The local celebrities and the charity they are fundraising for are:
Charley Voorhis– Director and owner of Voortex Productions, raising money for Chelan-Douglas Land Trust
Delcie Proffitt– Ski patrol director at Mission Ridge Ski Resort, raising money for the Mission Ridge Volunteer Ski Patrol
Eddie Cortes Solorio– Wenatchee High School mariachi director and mariachi northwest festival chair, raising money for Wenatchee High School mariachi
Jerrilea Crawford– Mayor of East Wenatchee, raising money for the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center
Mary Big Bull-Lewis– Owner of Wenatchi Wear and R Digital Design, raising money for the Indigenous Roots and Reparation Foundation
Top Rojanasthien – Chef and owner of Atlas Fare and Wenatchee City Council Member, raising money for the Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council
Dancing with the Wenatchee Stars will take place Saturday at the Numerica Performing Arts Center, 123 N Wenatchee Avenue. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online.
