Buckle up, nerds, another convention is coming to Portland.
Fan Expo is headed to the Oregon Convention Center Jan. 12-14 and is bringing a star-studded cast of celebrities from your favorite media.
Charlie Cox, who played the titular Matt Murdock in Marvel’s “Daredevil,” and his onscreen antagonist Kingpin Vincent D’Onofrio will be in attendance. Jon Bernthal who played the Punisher will be there, too.
Star Wars franchise alums will be there for signings, including Giancarlo Esposito (also of “Breaking Bad” fame, of course), Danny Trejo (also of general Danny Trejo fame, of course), Diana Lee Inosanto (Morgan Elsbeth in “Ahsoka”), Eman Esfandi (Ezra Bridger in “Ahsoka”) and Emily Swallow (the Armorer in “The Mandalorian”).
But it’s hard to ignore some of the biggest names on the bill: Joseph Quinn, who was a breakout star in his role as Eddie Munson in Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” and Rainn Wilson, who probably needs no introduction from this journalist, but was Dwight Schrute in the American version of “The Office.”
Besides people from the big (and little) screens, celebrities from some of your favorite anime and video games will be at Fan Expo for signings, including Shameik Moore, voice of Miles Morales in “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and Tara Strong, who voices Raven in “Teen Titans.” You can even meet Princess Zelda herself, or at least her voice actress Patricia Summersett, who voiced her for the last smash hit game installment “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.”
Each talent has their own pricing scale for a photo and a signature. Check out Fan Expo’s website for a full list of who will be in attendance and what days they will be there.
But if meeting someone and getting a photo isn’t your thing there is plenty to do at Fan Expo.
For cosplayers and people who appreciate the art, there will be a cosplay competition. And there are panels and discussions on gaming, comics, cosplaying and more.
Last but not least, there will be the artist alley full of comic creators both local and from around the country. It’s a great place to expand your reading collection, commission work from some of your favorite artists or even find a new fave. What we’re saying is bring your wallet, because there will be a lot of goods to buy if you’re in the mood for shopping.
There will also be family friendly activities and tabletop gaming.
