Pune: Quite a few NGOs that work for the welfare of animals rescued in collaboration with the Maharashtra forest department, shelters and rehabilitation centres have launched calendars for the New Year, featuring some of their in-house “stars”.
From shelter dogs up for adoption to elephants at rehabilitation centres, these are the new faces on calendars that are on sale to raise funds and spread awareness about animal trafficking, poaching, abandonment and rescue.
Nachiket Utpat, director, wildlife conservation and rescue, ResQ Charitable Trust in Manjri, said, “The calendar features photographs clicked by our team members in different scenarios of rehabilitation process or rescue of different animals throughout 2023. Through these calendars we also want to spread awareness and educate people on various topics, so every page of the calendar contains information of a specific species.” Geetanjali Taur, founder, Saahas For Animals Pimpri-Chinchwad, said that this is the first time that they have decided to launch a calendar to raise funds for the organisation. “We have focused each month on one animal and what the species is known for, and what we can learn from them,” said Taur.
After a wildlife photographer decided to do some charity and took photographs of the animals at the Kalote Animal Trust in Kalote Makoshi district, Sameer Vohra, the founder of the NGO turned the photos into a calendar.
The NGO looks after over 600 domestic animals, including ponies, donkeys, horses, cows, dogs, cats and fowls.
