Melissa Ordway’s future on “The Young and the Restless” is seemingly in jeopardy.
The actress, 41, claimed on her Instagram Stories Wednesday that the soap opera “decided to take me off contract.”
Ordway has played Abby Newman on the long-running show since 2013.
“Honestly, it’s been an interesting couple of months,” Ordway wrote on her Stories while answering questions from her followers and showing off her new shorter haircut.
“The show decided to take me off contract so I decided to change my look up a bit for auditions,” she continued. “Definitely not something I wanted but I love and respect my YR family and appreciate any time they ask me back.”
On another slide, Ordway clarified her current status on the show.
“I’m still playing Abby I’m just not guaranteed episodes and can work on other projects,” she explained. “I’m still a part of the YR family and pray they continue to let Abby be a part of all the things in Genoa City.”
“Trust me, I hope I’m still there all the time!” she added. “I think they’re just focusing on other characters and storylines. But I worked today and lots of fun stuff coming up!”
The Post has reached out to a rep for “The Young and the Restless” for comment.
On the show, Abby married Devon Winters (Bryton James) during the 13,000th episode that aired Wednesday.
Ordway celebrated the milestone with an Instagram post that included photos from the TV wedding.
“Today is @youngandrestlesscbs 13000th episode!!! This isn’t possible without all the amazing fans and loyal viewers. We love you!!! ❤️,” Ordway wrote.
“Thankful that I got to be a part of it and that Abby and Devon made it official!!!” the actress went on. “Here are some #bts pics from the wedding!!!”
In a recent interview with the new website Swoon, Ordway said about the TV couple, “I really do feel it’s a match made in heaven. They started as best friends, they know everything about each other and I just think all the years leading up to this has just built such a great foundation for their relationship.”
For her role as Abby, Ordway was nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama in 2022.
Ordway previously starred in all 80 episodes of the telenovela limited series “Hollywood Heights.” She also had roles on “Cold Case,” “Melrose Place,” and “90210,” and was a model on “The Price Is Right” in 2020.
