Matthew Perry’s ex-girlfriend reveals new details of actor’s death and says more people are involved

The tragic death of Friends star Matthew Perry in October 2023 left fans across the globe heartbroken.

At the time of his passing, the 54-year-old actor was discovered face-down in his hot tub, with the official cause of death listed as an accidental overdose of ketamine.

However, Perry‘s ex-girlfriend and former assistant, Kayti Edwards, has now come forward with new details that suggest the full story may be far more complex.

In an exclusive interview with The Mirror US, Edwards revealed unsettling information about the actor’s life, death, and the troubling network of individuals she claims contributed to his downfall.

According to Edwards, Perry had long been tied to a group of doctors and medical professionals who supplied him with drugs, including ketamine, under dubious circumstances.

She shared that Perry‘s drug use had escalated over the years, and a chilling five-word confession from him foreshadowed the role that medical professionals played in his demise: “I’m in with the doctors.”

Sketchy Death Scene and More People Involved

Edwards pointed to the concerning lack of investigation into Perry‘s history with various doctors, urging authorities to look deeper into the roles these medical professionals played.

“There are so many more doctors who have been on his books over the years who will be terrified right now,” she said.

Edwards also shared her frustrations with how easily Perry could obtain large quantities of drugs, with doctors seemingly unconcerned about the consequences. “It’s a scandal,” she stated bluntly.

The former Friends star, who had battled addiction for years, allegedly relied on a revolving door of medical professionals who would overprescribe drugs like Vicodin and ketamine.

Edwards claimed that even after Perry had moved on to using ketamine to cope with his depression, his reliance on these doctors remained unchanged.

Kayti’s revelations come after five people, including two doctors, were arrested in connection with Perry’s death.

Dr. Salvador Plasencia and Dr. Mark Chavez, along with Perry’s live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, have been charged with various counts related to the illegal distribution of ketamine.

But Edwards believes that many more individuals should be held accountable for their role in enabling Perry’s addiction.

Matthew Perry’s Addiction Struggles

Edwards reflected on her time working for Perry and shared distressing memories of his severe addiction.

She described her horror at witnessing him consume up to 60 Vicodin pills a day and recounted a conversation with Perry where he explained how he obtained the drugs: “I have an in with the doctors.”

As Perry’s addiction spiraled out of control, Edwards eventually decided to step away, unable to bear watching him slowly deteriorate.

“I couldn’t watch him die,” she said, explaining how she had to leave her role as his assistant for her own peace of mind. However, she always feared that his addiction would lead to a tragic outcome.

Despite her departure, Edwards remained close to Perry and persuaded him to seek treatment multiple times. But she admitted that his battle with drugs was an ongoing struggle-one that seemed impossible to win.

In the days leading up to his death, Perry had allegedly been injected with drugs numerous times by those in his inner circle, something Edwards found deeply troubling.

“I always stayed with Matthew if he was taking drugs because I didn’t want him to OD. But when I heard that he let his assistant do it, I just couldn’t understand,” she said, adding that Perry had always been terrified of needles.

Arrests and Lingering Questions

The charges against Perry‘s medical suppliers, including Plasencia and Chavez, as well as Iwamasa, underscore the depth of the issue.

But Edwards believes there are still many unanswered questions surrounding Perry‘s death, particularly regarding the lack of physical evidence at the scene.

“Where did all the drugs go? Why wasn’t anything found?” she asked.

In her view, Perry‘s massive wealth also played a role in his tragic downfall. She described how doctors and medical staff were often swayed by the large sums of money Perry offered, contributing to a culture of overprescribing that ultimately cost him his life.

As investigations into Perry‘s death continue, Edwards hopes the spotlight on his case will serve as a wake-up call for the entertainment industry and its troubling relationship with prescription drugs.

The star’s descent into addiction, coupled with the involvement of numerous medical professionals, paints a devastating picture of a man who couldn’t escape his demons, even with the best resources at his disposal.
