Following Netflix’s “Scoop,” which came out earlier this year, Prime Video is releasing its own dramatized take on the infamous 2019 BBC interview where Prince Andrew commented publicly on his dealings and relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
“A Very Royal Scandal” specifically follows reporter Emily Maitlis (played by Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson) as she chases the story and lands the interview, before dramatizing the actual events leading up to and during the interview with Prince Andrew (played by Golden Globe nominee Michael Sheen).
The show, which is the third series in a critically acclaimed anthology about British political and royal scandals, is debuting exclusively on Prime Video.

What is ‘A Very English Scandal’ and ‘A Very British Scandal’?
“A Very Royal Scandal,” while not sharing its name with any of the shows that came before it, is technically the third season in an anthology series of historical dramas that dramatize true events in British political and royal history. All three series were made by the same production company and are looped together on Prime Video as a three-season anthology.
The first season, “A Very English Scandal,” dropped on Prime Video in 2018. The three-part miniseries follows the Thorpe affair — when politician Jeremy Thorpe stood trial for conspiracy to murder as his same-sex lover threatened his career by revealing their affair. Hugh Grant starred as Thorpe, while Ben Whishaw played his lover, Norman Josiffe. The series also features Alex Jennings, who returns to the anthology series in a different role in “A Very Royal Scandal.”
A follow-up series, “A Very British Scandal,” was released in 2021. It starred Claire Foy and Paul Bettany as Margaret Campbell, Duchess of Argyll and Ian Campbell, Duke of Argyll, respectively, and follows the highly publicized divorce proceedings between the two in 1963. The notorious case included accusations of adultery, forgery, theft, domestic violence, drug use, and bribery.
