Here are five things to do over the next few weekends in and around Stark County.

1. Jackson Oktoberfest

Jackson Township’s Oktoberfest will be 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Nash Family Jackson Amphitheater.

Sponsored by Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, the event has food, beer, vendors, games and contests. Live music will be from Fred Ziwich and the International Sound Machine.

General admission costs $10 presale and $15 day of the event. A tasting ticket (21 and older) is $45 presale and $55 day of event, and includes 10 tasting tickets, a commemorative mug and festival admission. For tickets and more information, visit cantonchamber.org/oktoberfest.

2. ‘Cars are the Stars’ in Minerva

The fourth annual “The Cars are the Stars” automobile exhibition will be noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in downtown Minerva.

The event starts at noon with a parade of vehicles on North Market Street.

Featured are rare and historically significant vehicles, roughly half of which will be related to the Cannonball Run, including the California Machine and the Fraud Taurus.

More than 60 invitation-only premiere vehicles are featured. The event benefits Minerva’s Roxy Theatre.

Cannonball Run celebrities also will be in attendance, including Pam Yates, Ed Bolian, Dave Black, David Maher, and record holders Doug Tabbutt and Arne Toman, including some who will participate in a Q&A panel from 1-2 p.m. in the Roxy Theatre.

The Cannonball Run is an unsanctioned and illegal cross-country drive from New York City to Los Angeles.

Live music features Luke Schreffler, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and T. Free & the Panic Attacks 1-4 p.m.

Food trucks will be on site, and downtown restaurants will be open. Minerva’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area will be in effect 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

Tickets to the event cost $10 per person and $20 per family (up to five people per household) and can be purchased at the event or at https://minervamotorclub.com/cars-are-the-stars/.

3. Live music, art and shopping in downtown Minerva

Minerva will hold 2nd Friday festivities 5-9 p.m. Friday with live music, art, food and shopping.

Market Street Art Spot, 113 N. Market St., will host a reception 5-9 p.m., showcasing the work of Todd Bergert, plus live music by Stephanie Burns.

A pop-up park will be on West High Street between North Market and Main streets, featuring live music from 6-9 p.m. by Kodachrome Babies, a sisterly duo whose music has a female group sound of the 1950s with a modern touch, said a news release from the Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce.

Activities also will include games, crafters and vendors. Downtown shops also will be open. The village’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area will be in effect 4-10 p.m.

Elle King will be performing Saturday at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas. Tickets cost $64, $79 and $94, with VIP packages available for $179.

4. Elle King coming to KSU Tuscarawas

Elle King will be on stage Saturday at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas.

King’s songs include the 2015 hit “Ex’s and O’s.” Other popular tracks are “America’s Sweetheart,” “Without You” and “Jersey Giant.”

The Grammy nominee’s musical style blends rock, country, blues and indie sounds.

King has amassed nearly 2 billion streams worldwide, including more than 275 million for the Platinum-certified song, “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home),” featuring country music star Miranda Lambert.

5. Rock ‘n’ roll cabaret show in Jackson

Stardust Dinner Theatre will present a “Rock & Roll Cabaret” tribute Sept. 21 featuring the music of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.

Tickets cost $45 for the dinner and show at La Pizzaria, 3656 Dressler Road NW in Jackson Township. VIP seating costs $55. A cash bar will be available.

A Bee Gees tribute will perform Saturday at Lions Lincoln Theatre, 156 Lincoln Way E in downtown Massillon.

“One Night Only: The Ultimate Tribute to the Bee Gees” starts at 7:30 p.m.

The group will perform Bee Gees classics, including “Stayin’ Alive,” “Night Fever,” “How Deep Is Your Love,” “You Should Be Dancing” and “To Love Somebody.”

Tickets, from $51 to $76, can be purchased at https://www.lionslincolntheatre.org/ or by or by calling 330-481-9105. The box office will open one hour before showtime.

7. North Canton wartime art exhibit

The Little Art Gallery of the North Canton Public Library will host the Massillon Museum traveling exhibition, “Imagining a Better World: The Artwork of Nelly Toll,” beginning Thursday with an opening reception.

The exhibit will run through Nov. 3 at the gallery inside the North Canton library, 185 N. Main St.

The exhibit features digital reproductions of the wartime artwork of Nelly Toll, a childhood survivor of the Holocaust, and is organized by the Massillon Museum.

8. Singer-songwriter Don Dixon performing in Massillon

Singer-songwriter and acclaimed record producer Don Dixon will perform Sept. 19 as part of the Rhythms Concert Series at the Massillon Museum.

Along with creating his own music for decades, the Stark County resident’s studio credits including co-producing R.E.M.’s critically acclaimed 1983 album, “Murmur,” which launched the iconic alternative rock band’s path to stardom.

Releasing more than 20 solo albums, Dixon’s songs have been recorded by Joe Cocker, Counting Crows, Ronnie Spector, Hootie & the Blowfish and other artists. He also toured as the bass player for Mary Chapin Carpenter.

Tickets, $12 and $10 for museum members, are general admission and can be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.com/. The concert is 7 to 9 p.m.

New Wave Nation, an '80s tribute band, will be performing at 8 p.m. on Sept. 13 at 2nd Friday festivities in downtown Louisville. The 2nd Friday event is 5-10 p.m.

New Wave Nation will be performing at 2nd Friday festivities on Sept. 13 in downtown Louisville.

The event is 5-10 p.m. and also has food vendors, family activities and artists presented by the Louisville Nimishillen Historical Society. Activities also will be at Umbrella Alley.

New Wave Nation, an ’80s tribute band, performs at 8 p.m. Admission to the concert and 2nd Friday is free.

10. ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ at KSU Stark

“Jekyll & Hyde” continues this weekend at Players Guild Theatre at Kent State University at Stark in Jackson Township.

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

11. Taylor Swift Eras Video Party in Canton

A Taylor Swift Eras Video Party will be at 8 p.m. Saturday at The Auricle Venue + Bar in downtown Canton.

The event is a tribute to the career of the pop music megastar. Videos of Swift’s songs will be played on large screens, including both hits and deep cuts. Fans can dance and sing along while following the evolution of Swift’s music visually.

The event is 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Attendees are also encouraged to dress up in Swift-inspired attire marking one of her musical eras.

Tickets cost $10 online in advance and $15 day of the event. There’s a $3 surcharge for those under age 21. The event is restricted to ages 18 and over.

12. Yankee Peddler Festival

The Yankee Peddler Festival is Saturday and Sunday at Clay’s Resort Jellystone Park in the Canal Fulton area.

The annual festival is 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and continues on Sept. 21-22.

Yankee Peddler is a pioneer-themed event featuring arts and crafts, as well as colonial-style food cooked over open fires. Entertainment includes bagpipe players, puppet shows and live music.
