Ben Affleck doesn’t appear stressed about missing his movie’s premiere at the Toronto Film Festival — because he won’t have to face his soon-to-be ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez.
The 52-year-old Oscar winner was all smiles as he headed into his Los Angeles office on Friday, September 6, the same day “Unstoppable,” the sports film Lopez co-produced with Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company, in which she also stars, will be shown for the first time.
Affleck looked spiffy, showing up to his office in a navy blue suit with a lighter-colored button-up and brown shoes. He held onto a black weekend bag — possibly in case he decides to head to the film festival last minute.
The “Good Will Hunting” star accessorized his look with sleek aviator sunglasses but his best accessory was his smile.
Affleck was greeted by a colleague in a white suit jacket, who hugged the actor before they walked through the building doors.
The movie star appeared to be in a good mood despite his ongoing divorce and the hype surrounding “Unstoppable.”
While Affleck is allegedly sitting Friday’s premiere out, his ex and best friend are expected to show. Lopez will make her first big appearance since filing for divorce on the two-year anniversary of their second wedding ceremony.
She’s reportedly “excited” to attend the “Unstoppable” premiere without her former husband and seems to have no qualms about facing his Hollywood bestie, Damon.
“Jennifer is excited to head to the Toronto Film Festival to promote this film because ‘Unstoppable’ means a lot to her, she wants to support it,” a source told Daily Mail earlier this week.
“It is a true life story that is very inspirational and she is proud to be a part of it. Acting in the movie was a high point for her,” the insider added.
“Unstoppable” is the true story of wrestler Anthony Robles. He was born with one leg and defied the odds by winning the 2011 NCAA individual wrestling national championship. Lopez plays Robles’ mother in the film and Jharrel Jerome stars as the wrestling champ.
Bobby Cannavale, Don Cheadle and Michael Peña are also in the movie.
“The movie has been getting a lot of attention and Jennifer wants it to do the best it can. She is very professional and always works hard to give her movies their best opportunities,” the source shared.
The insider claimed that the trip will reportedly be quick for Lopez as “she won’t be in Toronto for very long as she has other matters to attend to.”
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind the split. She did not specify if they signed a prenuptial agreement before walking down the aisle twice in 2022; however, sources claimed they didn’t.
Without a prenup, insiders warned the divorce battle could “get ugly,” mainly because all the earnings, profits and assets they made during their union could be considered community property. Lopez also declared her assets were “unknown” when she filed.
This marks divorce No. 4 for Lopez. Before Affleck, she was married to actor Ojani Noa from 2017-2018, backup dancer Cris Judd in 2002 and singer Marc Anthony, with whom she shares 16-year-old twins Emme and Max, from 2004-2014.
Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018. They have three children together: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
