Aubrey Plaza never said ciao to her time on “The White Lotus.”
The 40-year-old revealed that she didn’t actually watch herself in the Emmy award-winning series because she doesn’t know her streaming password.
“I still haven’t, but I’m going to,” Plaza confessed to the Wall Street Journal in a video posted Tuesday. “To be honest, I had trouble opening my HBO Max account when I was trying to watch it originally. I couldn’t figure out the password and I usually just give up when I can’t figure out the passwords.”
She quipped: “I just can’t handle things like that.”
However, the “Parks and Recreation” alum is open to watching through other methods, even if HBO hasn’t obliged them.
“I’d love a DVD, but they don’t send DVD sets anymore,” Plaza continued. “I ask them every time.”
The “Agatha All Along” actress portrayed Harper in Season 2 of “The White Lotus,” which was filmed over five months at the San Domenico Palace hotel in Taormina, Sicily.
Plaza’s character embarked on a Sicily vacation alongside her husband, Ethan (Will Sharpe), and another couple, his college roommate Cameron (Theo James), and Cameron’s wife, Daphne (Meghann Fahy).
This isn’t the first time the “Little Demon” star had a bone to pick with streaming platforms.
Last year, Plaza told Vanity Fair that she gets “really angry” whenever she has no choice but to use them.
“I was trying to watch ‘Top Chef’ Season 20. Couldn’t figure out how to f–king get Hulu + Live. I give up! I can’t. I just can’t,” she stated at the time. “And so what I like to do is go on iTunes and buy movies that are old. Or I’ll go on iTunes and just, like, buy the whole ‘Sopranos’ series, and then my husband will be like, ‘You literally can watch that for free on HBO Max.’”
Luckily, Plaza got to stream Season 1 of “The White Lotus,” which led her to take on her role in the Mike White-created series.
“I was a fan of Season 1, but more importantly, I was a big Mike White fan,” she told Variety in 2022. “So I’m very excited to work with him. I’m very honored to be on this television series, and I hope I don’t let everybody down. It seems like everyone watched this show.”
And White, 54, had the perfect vision for Plaza’s character.
“He kind of made a joke, but he said something along the lines of ‘I think it would be really funny if you played a normie,’” she told The Los Angeles Times in 2023. “There’s lots to dissect there, but I think what he meant was ‘I’m not going to cast you as a character that has some kind of extreme behaviors.’ I thought, ‘OK, well, nobody’s really a normie, are they?’”
These days, Plaza still has time to get her account up and running before Season 3 returns in 2025.
The series’ third installment will take place in Thailand. The cast includes Carrie Coon, Michelle Monaghan, Scott Glenn, Leslie Bibb, Parker Posey, Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Jason Isaacs, Christian Friedel and Season 1 vet Natasha Rothwell.
