A celebrity version of The Traitors is officially happening!

Faithfuls and traitors, listen up – huge news has been announced.

After the rumour mill has been going wild with speculation, the BBC has officially confirmed a celebrity version of the multi-award-winning psychological game show, The Traitors, has been commissioned.

Just like the smash hit series, the celebrity version – working title Celebrity Traitors – will be hosted by the inimitable Claudia Winkleman, and will surely make for unmissable TV.

Filming of the nine-part celebrity series will take place in 2025, and casting for the celebrity players is already underway. No official air date has been announced yet, but sometime in the second half of 2025 at the earliest looks most likely right now.

Having debuted on BBC One in 2022, The Traitors has been a runaway hit, with series 2 drawing 46 million views on BBC iPlayer and an average of over 8 million views per episode.

The Good Housekeeping team are no strangers to the show, having been the subject of many morning chats in the office earlier this year. So much so, that our very own Head of Content for the Good Housekeeping Institute, Alison Lynch, decided to dress like Claudia for a week, after the host’s on-screen outfits became a sensation all of their own. And that’s even before we get to the drama between the contestants (one of whom has gone on to take part in this year’s Celebrity Masterchef).

The news of Celebrity Traitors was announced at the Edinburgh TV Festival 2024, where a fourth series of The Traitors was also announced, with filming taking place next year, too.

The BBC also confirmed that filming has wrapped on series 3 of The Traitors this summer in the Scottish Highlands, which means we should hopefully be able to look forward to seeing a new series on our screens this winter. Series 2 aired in January 2024, so it’s likely we could be looking at another post-New Year air date.

Additionally, there will be 12 brand new episodes of the companion podcast The Traitors: Uncloaked, to accompany the third series, which will again be hosted by comedian Ed Gamble and available via BBC Sounds, BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
