Those who watch Games of Thrones (or its prequel House of the Dragons) are familiar with the concept of raising banners and asking vassal houses to prove their fealty. So far in the 2024 election, we’ve seen numerous celebrities who have bent the knee to their either Trump-Vance or Harris-Walz.
Here are some of the top supporters of Team Trump:
Elon Musk: A pivotal figure behind MAGA 2024, he persuaded Trump to pick JD Vance as his running mate.X (formerly known as Twitter) has also been of critical importance for Trump, where he was re-platformed by Musk after being banned in 2020.
Peter Thiel: Peter Thiel, once a major Trump backer in 2016, has expressed mixed feelings about supporting him in 2024. While he’s not as vocal about his support with his wallet,
Hulk Hogan: The WWE legend passionately endorsed Trump at the 2024 RNC, calling him his “hero” and the only one capable of restoring America. Hogan’s dramatic style, including ripping off his shirt, energized the crowd.
Kid Rock: Kid Rock performed at the 2024 RNC, rallying the crowd before Trump’s appearance, showing his ongoing support. He’s one of the few musicians to openly ally with Trump.
Amber Rose: The former model surprised many by endorsing Trump in 2024, citing his “alpha male” qualities as key leadership traits.
Jon Voight: Jon Voight remains one of Trump’s most vocal Hollywood supporters, calling him a “true patriot” and “the greatest president since Lincoln.”
Scott Adams: The Dilbert creator’s support for Trump gives the latter some intellectual heft. One of Trump’s earliest supporters, he calls Trump a “master persuader” who can shape public opinion.
Kanye West: The rapper now known as Ye vacillated between supporting and criticising Trump. He famously said both of them have “dragon energy” and called him a brother.
Dana White: Another early supporter, Trump is closely associated with the UFC and MMA circuits. He financially helped MMA in the early days, letting them hold events at the Trump Taj Mahal.
Roseanne Barr: The actor remains a staunch Trump supporter, defending him against critics and calling him a champion for the American people.
Team Harris has its fair share of Galácticos supporting her campaign:
Mark Hamill: The Chosen One is one of Harris’s biggest supporters, even turning up on White Dudes and saying: “I am Luke Skywalker, and I am here to rescue you.” At the DNC 2024, he warned voters against going over to the “orange side.”
Julia Louis-Dreyfus: The Veep and Seinfeld star, often described as the greatest television thespian of all time, is an avowed Harris supporter who was quite prominent at the DNC 2024, where she turned up to support Harris and then participated in a discussion with Stephen Colbert after the event.
Beyoncé: The KHIVE derives its name from the Beyhive, and while the Queen hasn’t officially endorsed the Harris-Walz 2024 ticket, she allowed the Harris campaign to use her song “Freedom.”
George Clooney: The Batman & Robin actor was one of the loudest advocates who asked Joe Biden to step down, later praising Harris and calling her bid “historic.” Clooney, viewed by many in Hollywood as a key voice in Democratic circles, has long been engaged in political activism.
Taylor Swift: The speculation about Swift performing at the DNC and officially endorsing Harris refuses to go away, despite a group of renegades forming a “Swifties for Trump” breakaway faction. In 2020, she supported the Biden-Harris ticket, and it’s only a question of when, not if, she throws in her support for Harris.
Mindy Kaling: Harris’s dosa buddy is a vocal supporter of Harris. She has often expressed her pride and excitement for Harris’s presidency and hails her for breaking barriers for women of colour in politics.
Robert De Niro: A vocal supporter of Biden and Donald Trump’s bête noire, the veteran actor hailed Biden for stepping down and has called Harris’s presidential bid “historic.”
Oprah Winfrey: In 2020, Winfrey hailed Harris’s win as Vice President. Oprah Winfrey expressed her admiration for Kamala Harris’s historic election as the first female, Black, and Asian Vice President of the United States, emphasizing that its significance for women globally is “extraordinary” and “immeasurable.”
Deja Foxx: Among Harris’s younger supporters is content creator Deja Foxx, who leads the charge of over 200 credentialed content creators at the DNC 2024. At the conference, Foxx spoke about her experiences being raised by a single mum and her work with Planned Parenthood. She said: “Because of policies that lift people up, I walked through the gates of my dream school as a first-generation college student. People my age are making big decisions about our lives, and we deserve a president who has our back.”
Martin Luther King III: The eldest son of the man who had a dream was also present at the DNC, where he expressed his support for Harris. Calling the election the most historic ever, he said: “I’m sure my mother and father are smiling down on this process. But also reinforcing the fact that once she is elected, there is a lot of work that has to be done. First of all, there’s a lot of work to be done to get her elected. Then, the work really begins.”
