Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell and Patrick J. Adams are reportedly close to signing deals for Taylor Sheridan’s new “Yellowstone” spinoff, according to TV Line. This leaves Matthew McConaughey’s “Yellowstone” future up in the air.

The show was formerly called “2024” but its title is now reporterdly “The Madison.”

The outlet reports that its rumored to be about Stacy Clyburn, a wealthy matriarch, and her family as they move from New York City to Montana after her husband and brother-in-law die in a plane crash.

“Yellowstone” follows wealthy rancher John Dutton (Kevin Costner), and his adult children, including Kayce (Luke Grimes), Jamie (Wes Bentley), Beth (Kelly Reilly) and his son-in-law, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser)

Previously, it was announced that McConaughey was supposed to star in the sequel series.

There was also a chance that “Yellowstone” stars Reilly, Hauser and Grimes would reprise their roles and join him in that series, although that was never officially confirmed.

Per the outlet, it’s unclear if Russell is replacing McConaughey, or what McConaughey’s future is in the “Yellowstone” world.

In April 2023, McConaughey appeared on the “Armchair Expert With Dax Shepherd” podcast. The Oscar winner was mum on the details, but shared his enthusiasm about the role.

“I am now becoming more interested in actually going to play another character in a movie or a TV show,” he said, referring to the fact that he took a three-year hiatus from acting.

“The idea of going to act in the right role or the right movie, film or series right now, I’ll be a different or improved actor in my own right after these last three years.”

“Yellowstone” has numerous other spinoff shows, including “1883” starring Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott, and “1923” starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford.

Sheridan has gotten into several public and messy feuds with his stars. Kevin Costner left “Yellowstone” under a cloud of rumors and accusations that he didn’t prioritize the series over his film work, which he denied.

“I have taken a beating from those f – – king guys, and I know a lot of times where it’s coming from,” Costner said in May, referring to the “Yellowstone” producers and Sheridan.

Sheridan told the Hollywood Reporter in June 2023 about his feud with Costner, “He and the network were arguing about when he could be done with ‘Yellowstone.’ I said, ‘We can certainly work a schedule toward [his preferred exit date],’ which we did.”

Sheridan added, “Once lawyers get involved, then people don’t get to talk to each other and start saying things that aren’t true and attempt to shift blame based on how the press or public seem to be reacting.”

In June, Costner officially confirmed he won’t be returning to the show, instead shifting his focus on making his western movie “Horizon: An American Saga.” The first out of four films received dismal reviews and its sequel is headed to the Venice Film Festival for its world premiere.

“I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that that’s required,” he told fans at the time. “Thinking about Yellowstone, that beloved series that I love, that I know you love. I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue, season five or into the future.”

He concluded: “I loved it and I know you loved it. I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning. I love the relationships that I’ve been able to develop. And I’ll see you at the movies.”

The Post reached out to reps for “Yellowstone” and McConaughey for comment.

The new show does not yet have an announced premiere date, but it’s expected in 2025.

The second half of the fifth and final season of “Yellowstone” premieres Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. on Paramount Network.
