Cameo app violated N.J. law with celebrity endorsement videos, AG says

The popular celebrity shout-out app Cameo will explicitly label videos endorsing products and businesses under a settlement agreement with authorities in 30 states, including New Jersey.

Launched in 2017, the app exploded in popularity by allowing users to pay anywhere from a few bucks to hundreds of dollars to get a personalized video from their favorite media personalities.

What kind of personalities? Think Danielle Staub from “Real Housewives of New Jersey” ($199 per video) or former Gov. Chris Christie, who is still listed on the site, but currently on hiatus after he got duped into trolling a fellow Republican. (It’s a long story.)
