In a statement posted on official social media platforms, the oldest president in U.S. history expressed, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President.” Biden had earlier mentioned that he would only consider withdrawing if recommended by doctors due to a medical condition. 

“And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to step aside and focus entirely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” he continued.

Lil Nas X and other celebrities respond to Biden’s exit from the Presidential Race

On social media, Montero Lamar Hill, better known as Lil Nas X, the American rapper, singer, and songwriter, posted, “Wow, it’s really over.” His remark seemed to be a pointed critique of the politician, who had faced intense scrutiny over his public missteps, raising concerns about his cognitive health. Meanwhile, other celebrities also took the opportunity to express their thanks for his service and say their goodbyes.

Mark Hamill, star of Star Wars, responded to the news by saying, “Joe Biden has a record of accomplishments unmatched by any president in our lifetime. He restored honesty, dignity & integrity to the office after 4 years of lies, crime, scandal & chaos.”

Demi Lovato took to Instagram to share her response, emphasizing Biden’s endorsement of Harris and encouraging action through the Democratic Party’s donation platform, declaring, “Let’s do this!!” She also uploaded a photo of herself with Harris in a separate story.

Comedian and TV host Ellen DeGeneres also reacted to the news, posting on her official X account, “I’m grateful to President Biden for everything he’s done.”

Jimmy Kimmel also joined in, sharing his appreciation with a sincere message: “Thank you President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden for your leadership, integrity, empathy, and service to our country.” He also posted a photo of Biden with First Lady Jill Biden on his Instagram, including a caption filled with admiration and support.
