With the Olympic Games on the horizon, Adidas was working on several campaigns to promote its products for the event in Paris.

One of those spots featured model Bella Hadid, but in a very unexpected way,

The origin of the conflict between Adidas and Bella Hadid

The German company chose the supermodel to advertise its new SL72 sneakers, inspired by the Munich Olympics. Instantly, Israel’s official account complained and criticized the fact that the face of this spot was Bella Hadid, a recognized supporter of Palestine.

The Israeli country did not understand why Adidas was promoting these shoes with the supermodel, since “11 Israelis were killed by Palestinian terrorists during the Munich Olympics”.

Bella Hadid’s father is Palestinian and the supermodel has never hidden her animosity towards the Israeli government since the conflict began.

He even went so far as to issue a statement last October 23 when an attack took place in the Gaza area. “There is an urgent humanitarian crisis in Gaza that must be addressed. Families need access to water and food. Hospitals need fuel to power generators, treat the wounded and keep people alive.”

But Adidas has made its mind up and, in a statement, announced its decision to dispense with Bella Hadid’s services just days before the start of the Olympics: “We are aware that connections have been made to tragic historical events – albeit completely unintentional – and we apologize for any upset or distress caused. We are reviewing the campaign.”

Bella Hadid announces legal action against Adidas

The supermodel has not hesitated to hire lawyers to take appropriate legal action against Adidas, which, according to TMZ, she blames for its “lack of public responsibility”. In addition, the American site notes that several sources point out that Bella Hadid feels it is a cruel and harmful campaign against her.
