Once upon a time, David Arquette was a professional wrestler. During one match, the star took a lightbulb to the neck. The accidental stabbing caused him temporary confusion, deafness, and blindness, and he had to have surgery on the wound.

Leonardo DiCaprio has had multiple near-death experiences. While scuba diving in the Galapagos Islands, the actor’s oxygen tank malfunctioned. Thankfully, his friend Edward Norton saw what was happening and provided him with some air so he could get to the surface. DiCaprio has also survived a shark attack and was almost in a plane crash.

Gary Busey nearly died after a horrific motorcycle accident in the late ‘80s. Busey claims he did die after undergoing brain surgery, and while in a different realm, he was told that he still had life left to live.

Elizabeth Taylor’s near-death experience was not unlike Gary Busey’s. Around the height of her fame, Taylor contracted pneumonia. She had to have surgery, and she was dead for several minutes. The star claimed that her late husband, Mike Todd, told her she wasn’t done living yet.

One night, the waves were bad, and a large one overtook the actor, nearly sending him over a cliff. Duhamel was caught by some coral, leaving him with some scrapes on his legs.

While surfing by herself, Amy Schumer got into a horrible accident where the fin of her board went into her leg. The comedian pulled the fin out of her leg, then she made it back to the beach, where a man saved her life by holding her wound together until paramedics arrived.

Gerard Butler’s near-death experience also involved surfing. While participating in the sport, Butler was overcome by the water and pulled across a rocky reef. The actor recalled being unable to get out of the water, and after he was saved, he was taken to the hospital.

Eminem nearly died from an overdose. The rapper was addicted to prescription drugs, and after the incident, he got clean. The star has been sober for well over a decade.

Demi Lovato nearly died from drugs as well. The singer went unconscious after overdosing on prescription meds. Her assistant found her and called for paramedics, who made it just in time to revive Lovato. The almost deadly relapse prompted Lovato to recommit to sobriety.

If there’s any celebrity you’d expect to have a near-death experience, it’s probably Jackie Chan. The actor, who famously performs most of his own stunts, has suffered multiple intense injuries from his work, but one left him with a cracked skull and a bone in his brain.
