During Couture Week, 16 Celebrities Served The Best Looks

The couture shows in Paris is unlike any other fashion week. Sure, A-list stars are always mixing and mingling in the front row—but at couture, their fashion choices are always heightened. The week, after all, is all about celebrating craftsmanship and otherwordly design—so why wouldn’t celebrities take the opportunity to play dress-up and deliver a fashion fantasy? It’s less about wearability, and more about creating a memorable moment.

This was certainly true at the couture shows this past week. Though everyone brought bold style to the mix, there were a handful of stars—16 of them, to be exact—who nailed the art of peacock dressing. Although, both minimalism and maximalism shined this week.

On the more subdued side, stars like Kelly Rutherford shined quietly: the actor’s cream draped, strapless gown—worn to Schiaparelli—was punctuated with a gold statement necklace. At Dior, Jennifer Lopez chose a draped khaki-colored dress with a matching cape coat—accessorizing the clean, streamlined look with leather gloves and Dior’s signature Lady Bag. At Chanel, Keira Knightley wore an ethereal white dress so good that she told Vogue she’d get married in it.

Other celebrities chose to venture into more daring territory. Punk-rock singer Avril Lavigne pulled off Iris van Herpen’s sculptural 3-D frock; Emma Chamberlain slipped into a Thom Browne dress that was printed with a trompe-l’œil checkered suit. Whatever presentation these notable names were heading into, they committed to the vibe and aesthetic of the designer they were guests of. And the end results were ensembles that were certainly VIP-worthy.
