Google’s Gemini AI might soon talk to you like your celebrity

Ever wished you could chat with your favourite celebrity? Google might soon make that dream come true – well, sort of.
Google is working on a cool new project: AI chatbots that act like famous people and influencers. Imagine having a conversation with a virtual version of your favourite YouTube star or Hollywood actor!
The Information, spilled the beans on this, suggesting that Google wants to show off what its Gemini AI can do in a fun way that everyone can enjoy.The project is said to be led by longtime Google executive and a team of ten.
While we don’t know who all would be part of this, Google is said to be in talks with several of celebrities and influencers to create their AI personas.
But it’s not just about chatting with the stars. Google also wants to let you create your own AI personalities. You could describe the kind of character you want, and poof! The AI would create a chatbot friend just for you.
This isn’t the first time someone’s tried this idea. Facebook’s parent company, Meta, already has AI chatbots based on celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Paris Hilton. However, the success of such celebrity-inspired chatbots remains uncertain. Meta’s similar offerings have seen limited adoption, and we don’t even many people taking about them, leave aside talking to them
The project is still in the works, so we might not see it until next year. When it does come out, it’ll probably start on Google Labs, where the company tests new ideas. There’s even talk about bringing this tech to YouTube. Imagine if your favourite YouTuber had an AI version of themselves that could chat with you 24/7!
