Cops seize phone and laptop of celebrity being questioned in Matthew Perry’s death

Police have seized the phone and laptop of an unnamed celebrity being questioned in relation to Matthew Perry’s death.

The Friends star died in October last year after being found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home.

Two months after his passing, in December, the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Perry died of ‘acute effects of ketamine’, adding that the manner of the death was accidental.

The autopsy also listed ‘drowning, coronary artery disease and the opioid buprenorphine’ as contributors to his death.

But it was announced last month that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are working together on a joint criminal investigation to look into how Perry obtained the drugs found in his system.

According to The Guardian, Perry was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for anxiety and depression – something the actor spoke about in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers and The Big Terrible Thing.

However, Perry’s last known infusion was a week and a half prior to his death, meaning that the drugs in his system weren’t related to an infusion.

The contents of the infusion would also have been in his system for three to four hours, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

In a statement provided to press, the LAPD said: “Based on the medical examiner’s findings, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the United States Postal Inspection Service, has continued its investigation into the circumstances of Mr Perry’s death.”

As reported by In Touch, a woman was brought in for multiple interviews as part of the investigation.

When law enforcement arrived with a search warrant at the celebrity’s Los Angeles home, she was out exercising and not present.

A source told the outlet that when the celebrity returned home she was ‘completely cooperative’. She was not handcuffed or arrested.

Upon searching her room, police apparently took an iPhone and a computer.

The source told In Touch that the unnamed celebrity and Perry met in rehab and forged an ‘unexpected relationship’.

The insider stated: “She’s hired lawyers and has had multiple meetings with law enforcement since they arrived at her sober living house with a search warrant. She’s being tight-lipped about the situation. But the investigators must have known something to get a warrant and turn up like that.

“It’s tough to say or know exactly what her role is [in Matthew’s death], but she’s adamant she had nothing to do with that.”
