Performance, food and culture brought hundreds of people to Henderson Park to celebrate the Lethbridge Filipino Heritage Festival during the weekend of June 15 to 16. 

Throughout the festival grounds, visitors were greeted by a market full of street food and cultural crafts. People lined up to get their fill of barbecue skewers, deep-fried bites and sweet treats and drinks.

Crowds gathered at the main stage, through a mix of sunshine, strong winds and rain, to watch local entertainers, fashion shows and international celebrities.

During the Saturday evening, when local band, JAM NUTS, and Filipino singer, songwriter and actor Ariel Rivera took the stage, hundreds of people formed a sea of star struck fans enjoying an evening of music. On Sunday afternoon, Filipina singer and songwriter, kept the festival’s excitement high as she headlined the day’s performances.

CBC was on hand to talk to people about their favourite experiences about living in Lethbridge with many talking about the growth of the local Filipino community and the events where they can connect. This joy of community showcased the strength of the Lethbridge Filipino Heritage Festival in uniting Filipinos across southern Alberta.

Organized by the Filipino-Canadian Association of Lethbridge Alberta, this was the fourth year for the event and the first time the show was expanded to two days.
