Celebrities have been entering the fragrance arena for decades and continue to do so with unparalleled success. They secure nothing less than the best in terms of fragrance expertise when curating their namesake perfumes. As a result, their scents are often deemed classics by their fans—and even notable fragrance pros cannot deny their allure.
Here, we’ve rounded up the most noteworthy celebrity perfumes, including some of the most iconic fragrances to current hits.
Britney Spears: Curious Eau de Parfum
“When Curious launched in 2004, I realized her brand was a hit—it’s a floral perfume with ozonic, woody, and musky notes,” says Do. “Since then, Spear’s brand has launched dozens of perfumes and has worked with some of the industry’s biggest perfumers and celebrities in their own right and therefore has the attention of the fragrance industry as a powerhouse brand that continues to have a loyal following.”
Dolly Parton: Scent From Above Eau de Parfum
“Dolly was thrilled to share her love of scent with her fans, showcasing her authenticity in every detail from the bottle design featuring her signature butterfly captured in the cap to the fruity, floral scent,” says Jennifer Coleman, a fragrance pro at Scent Beauty. “This fruity, floral fragrance captures the essence of Dolly and speaks to her deep connection with fragrance and beauty and also to her southern roots and the scents of where she grew up.” Top notes include mandarin and black current as well as crisp pear and fresh peony blossom; middle notes are jasmine and lily of the valley; bottom notes are sandalwood and amber.
Sabrina Carpenter: Sweet Tooth Caramel Dream Eau de Parfum
“Sabrina’s love for fragrances and her sweet tooth made the gourmand line of fragrances a perfect fit,” says Coleman of the 2023 Caramel Dream perfume launch following the singer and actress’s original fragrance debut Sweet Tooth. “Caramel Dream is a gourmand fragrance with depth in its olfactive structure which gives it a more luxurious and long-lasting fragrance experience.” Top notes include heavy gourmand notes such as sugared lemon, orange zest, and almond milk which are then rounded out with middle accords of dark chocolate bean, vanilla, and caramelized amber.
Elizabeth Taylor: White Diamond Eau de Toilette
“When the superstar actress launched this product, the in-store appearances were a red carpet event,” notes Darryl Do, senior perfumer at Delbia Do Fragrances in New York City. Do explains the highlight of this iconic scent is its unique use of predominantly white floral fragrance notes and signature callouts including lily, neroli, iris, jasmine, and tuberose.
Ariana Grande: Cloud Eau de Parfum
“At initial sniff, this perfume is a well-constructed fruity floral,” says Do. “One thing I like about it is the soft musk and cashmere notes that make it contemporary because personally, I love to use cashmere as an ingredient in fragrances.”
Michelle Pfeiffer: Henry Rose Flora Carnivora Eau de Parfum
“When Michelle Pfeiffer made the bold statement by taking a position to bring transparency to perfume ingredients, I took notice as her line Henry Rose shows the ingredients as opposed to making a blanket statement that naturals are better,” notes Do. “Flora Carnivora is a light composition of florals including tuberose, orange flower, and jasmine with cedarwood for a middle note and a touch of vetiver to balance it out.”
Paris Hilton: Love Rush Eau de Parfum
“This floral fragrance is a great choice for daytime or a date night,” explains fragrance expert Daniel René. “At first you experience the clean musk and powder along with the balance of sweet fruits like apricot and citrusy bergamot but then sultry florals like gardenia and dahlia blend beautifully with vanilla orchid and sandalwood.”
Kylie Jenner: Cosmic by Kylie Eau de Parfum
“Cosmic by Kylie was the surprise fragrance we never knew we needed,” says René. “There is something so satisfyingly intriguing with its amber and vanilla blending so well with red peony and clean jasmine that you have no choice but to wonder where the cosmos will take you—definitely wear this fragrance anytime you want to be the star of the night.”
Rihanna: Fenty Eau de Parfum
“This was a scent that really had to grow on me—it’s a powdery rose with blueberry and tangerine top notes,” shares Fino, who adds that he always receives compliments when wearing it. “This was almost my signature scent but I don’t think I’m a signature scent type of guy!”
