Big Slick celebrities make weekend pit stop at Children’s Mercy Hospital

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Celebrities who descended on Kansas City over the weekend for the Big Slick celebrity weekend made a pit stop at Children’s Mercy Hospital between the softball game and party on Saturday morning, June 1.

Children’s Mercy, the beneficiary of the celebrity weekend, specializes in holistic children’s care, research, innovation and education. The children’s hospital is the 9th leading pediatric specialty hospital in the nation according to U.S. News and World Report.

As part of the weekend lineup, celebrities met children receiving treatment at the hospital between the softball game and the party. Stars like Laura Morano, of Disney Channel fame, James “Murr” Murray and Joe Gatto, from Impractical Jokers, Weird Al Yankovich, Jeff Ross, Jo Lo Truglio, a Brooklyn 99 favorite, and Anthony Hill, a surgeon on Grey’s Anatomy, could be seen deboarding transit vans in front of the hospital Saturday morning.

During the visit, host Rob Riggle, Samm Levine, who found his break-out role in NBC’s Freaks and Geeks, and more could be seen chatting with fans outside the hospital. Inside, visits with inpatients included chats with host Heidi Gardner, violin solos from Philip Bowen, a singer-songwriter, autographs from hosts Jason Sudeikis and Eric Stonestreet, jokes from host Paul Rudd and cast signatures from Gaten Matarazzo and Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things fame.

To end the weekend, the Big Slick Party and Show is set to begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday at the T-Mobile Center.
