Celebrities speak out on Robert De Niro, Donald Trump drama

Celebrities are weighing in on the ongoing feud between Robert De Niro and Donald Trump.

The 80-year-old actor is a vocal critic of the former president. De Niro first began hitting out at Trump in 2016, during the Republican politician’s first campaign run.

Over the years, the Oscar-winner has called Trump “nuts,” “a wannabe gangster” and a “real racist,” comparing the real estate mogul to Hitler. Never one to shy away from a fight with a celebrity, Trump has previously dubbed De Niro “brain damaged” and a “total loser.”

However, their feud appears to have escalated, as Trump once again hits the campaign trail amidst his ongoing legal battles.

After urging Americans not to vote for Trump during his recent appearance on The View, De Niro spoke to reporters outside the Manhattan Criminal Court in New York on Tuesday, where Trump’s hush money trial is drawing to a close.

The real estate mogul is accused of falsifying business documents to hide hush money payments to Stormy Daniels in 2016. The adult film actress said that she and Trump had a brief affair in 2006. Trump has denied Daniel’s claims and pleaded not guilty to the fraud charges against him.

During the press conference on behalf of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris‘ campaign, De Niro called Trump a “clown” and accused him of wanting to “destroy the world.” The Taxi Driver star was later filmed arguing with Trump supporters who had gathered outside the courthouse.

In response, Trump blasted De Niro on Truth Social, the social network he founded in 2021.

“Robert, whose movies, artistry, and brand have gone WAY DOWN IN VALUE since he entered the political arena at the request of Crooked Joe Biden, looked so pathetic and sad out there,” he wrote.

As the war of words between Trump and De Niro intensifies, other famous faces are taking sides in the dispute.

Rob Schneider

Although he’s endorsing fellow vaccine skeptic Robert Kennedy Jr. for president in 2024, Rob Schneider has always had a love-hate relationship with Trump.

Despite criticizing some of his policies, the actor and comedian claims to have voted for the Republican in 2016, and blasted De Niro’s comments—and Democrats in general—during a Newsmax interview on Tuesday.

During an appearance on Eric Boiling the Balance, Schneider said: “I refuse to give into this fear-mongering.

“Until the Democrats go after [former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director] Tony Fauci and say, you know, ‘You lied, and then you misled us.’ And until they say, ‘No more wars,’ and expanding wars, and just printing endless money, I don’t think that they have the best interest for everybody.”

Piers Morgan

Although his relationship with Trump has flip-flopped over the years, Morgan made his feelings about De Niro clear on Tuesday.

The English broadcaster shared an Associated Press article on De Niro’s courthouse speech to X, formerly Twitter.

“De Niro is such a douchebag,” he captioned the post, which has received over 856,000 views at the time of publishing.

Mia Farrow

Like De Niro, Farrow is an outspoken critic of Trump, previously describing him as “the most dangerous US president of my lifetime.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rosemary’s Baby actress criticized the Trump administration’s handling of the crisis. Reflecting on her late husband Frank Sinatra’s opinion of Trump in 2020, Farrow tweeted: “Frank Sinatra would have loathed Donald Trump.”

The Golden Globe winner showed support for De Niro’s comments on Tuesday. Taking to X, Farrow wrote: “Most older New Yorkers have been aware of Donald Trump’s shady activities for decades.”

“Many workers who did jobs for him, spread the word that Trump didnt them pay the agreed amount,” Farrow claimed.

“DeNiro is a New Yorker who has long known about Trump.”

Alex Jones

Following De Niro’s May 15 appearance on The View, the conspiracy theorist slammed the Goodfellas star for his comments about Trump, calling him “pathetic” and a “clear and present danger to our Republic!”

After De Niro spoke outside of Manhattan Criminal Court, the InfoWars founder hit out at the actor once again on X, dubbing him a “disgusting Hollywood joke.”

Megyn Kelly

The conservative journalist and podcast host has criticized De Niro for his attacks on Trump on several occasions—even after facing Trump’s wrath herself.

During Tuesday’s installment of The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly suggested that De Niro’s remarks about Trump could actually help him to win the 2024 election.

Kelly recounted a 2015 meeting with De Niro, back when she was still a host at Fox News.

“It was the first time he’d really come out and said how he felt about politics,” she told guests David Marcus and Stu Burguiere. “And we broke that on my show, when he ran and lost to Hillary Clinton.”

Kelly asked: “So what is it that they think has changed between then and now that De Niro couldn’t get Trump defeated in 2016 to Hillary, but somehow he can do the job now against Joe Biden?”

Kathy Griffin

Griffin is one of Trump’s most notable detractors—who can forget the 2017 photo shoot, in which the comedian posed with a replica of Trump’s decapitated head? So, it’s no surprise that the comedian is backing De Niro.

Griffin shared a clip of De Niro’s speech to X on Tuesday, captioning the post: “De Niro is the man. PERIOD.”

Tomi Lahren

Following the press conference, the Outkick host and long-time MAGA supporter hit out at De Niro on X.

“Have you ever seen more of a flaming j****** than Robert De Niro speaking outside the Trump trial?” Lahren wrote on Tuesday.

“I would be outraged if this man wasn’t such a freaking clown and embarrassing. Go home, Robert and take some illegals home with you!!”

Discussing the “totally BS” Trump trial during the latest installment of her podcast,
Tomi Lahren Is Fearless, the host continued to criticize De Niro, calling him “deranged.”

Vernon Jones

The former Georgia representative shared his passionate response to De Niro’s speech on X on Tuesday.

Reposting a clip of the press conference, the Republican politician wrote: “Robert Di Nero is done! He’s nothing! He’s a nobody! You hear me…he’s done!
