Eva Longoria is Queen of Cannes! Stars who brought their style A-game

The Cannes Film Festival is the perfect opportunity for the A-listers of the world to show off their fashion credentials.

From 61-year-old Demi Moore commanding attention in her first red carpet since 1997 to Anya Taylor-Joy, 28,  becoming a front-runner for the title of ‘Fashion Queen of Cannes’ as soon as she landed in Nice airport, the celebrities making an appearance in the south of France this year certainly didn’t disappoint.

Anya  sported £750 high-heeled Jimmy Choo Ixia sandals and a curve-clinging one-shoulder dress from Atlein Paris, the most travel-friendly but certainly an incredibly glamorous look.

She completed the look with a £340 ultra-wide brimmed La Chapeau Bomba hat by Jacquemus, cat-eye Oliver Peoples Khaite sunglasses and starlet-red lipstick.

But as the festival continued, it was clear Anya was going to have some serious competition for Best Dressed at this year’s event.

Sienna Miller stole the show in a pale blue chiffon by French fashion house Chloe when she turned out to promote Kevin Costner‘s new Western epic, Horizon: An American Saga.

Elsewhere, Bella Hadid has often led the glamour on the red carpet this season, as well as supermodel Heidi Klum… but who won the fashion crown at this year’s festival?

Here, celebrity stylist Rochelle White reveals the best dressed at the festival.

WINNER: EVA LONGORIA

Desperate Housewives star, Eva, put on a daring display in a blue gown with a high slit up her right leg and two cut panels around her waist on May 18

She found fame playing a fashionista model in Desperate Housewives, and it seems life is intimating art for Eva Longoria.

Rochelle said the actress was ‘not only eye-catching, but daring and not what we usually see from her’.

‘I feel that she has stepped out of her comfort zone and been daring with her fashion choices.

‘I think she is showing off and embracing who she is and what she stands for and each look has been chosen carefully. I’m here for it.’

When it comes to a red-carpet look, Eva Longoria, 49, rarely misses, and the Cannes Film Festival 2024 was no exception.

She kicked off her streak of ethereal outfits at the festival last Friday during the Kinds of Kindness red carpet at Palais des Festivals in a show-stopping dress from Ellie Saab.

The gown plunged in a V-neck fashion at the front and was without a back, meaning Eva was placed firmly at the centre of attention.

She injected further glamour to the daring Ellie Saab number with a diamond choker and earrings and styled her hair down for a glam goddess feel.

Later that week, Eva stepped out to attend the glittering Chopard event designed to honour the Trophee Chopard, and in a room full of stars dressed to the nines, Eva still managed to stand out.

She donned an elegant, embellished bandeau dress for the occasion. Eva added extra Old Hollywood glamour to the look with a black velvet throw draped across her shoulders while on the red carpet.

After a run of monochrome looks, the 49-year-old showed she could mix it up and added a pop of colour to her look with an aquamarine cut-out maxi dress.

She might be in her forties, but when she donned the barely-there glamorous blue dress, she looked as though she could be in her twenties.

Second place: Heidi Klum

Rochelle awarded Heidi second place, thanks to her daring outfits. ‘Her outfits have eye catching and stand outtish for all the right reasons,’ Rochelle said.

She continued: ‘Heidi is known for taking risks with her fashion choices and I feel that these outfits are representing that.

‘She is a risk taker even on red carpets and all these outfits have had an element of cut out or flesh showing, and she is rocking it with the confidence and comfortableness that we know and love. Always expect the unexpected.’

When Heidi Klum picked out her dress for the amfAR Gala at Cannes Film Festival 2024, her goal was to stand out from the crowd, and she did just that.

The supermodel, 50, stood out from the crowd in an extravagant dusky pink gown made of voluminous layers of ruffled tulle.

The avant-garde dress, which wrapped around her waist before flowing into a dramatic train, hails from the Ukrainian label Lever Coutures.

The brand’s website reads: ‘Lever Coutures ideal woman wear their clothes full of confidence, has a lust for sensuality, and is not afraid to flaunt her beauty.’

It was a business objective that Heidi Klum expertly fulfilled on the red carpet as she radiated feminine energy while she smiled for the cameras.

Elsewhere, Heidi showed she can dress subtly yet still be as equally effective, and on 23 May, the supermodel looked angelic in an all-white ensemble.

While more subtle than her look from Levers Couture, the attire wasn’t without drama. And to prove her fashion prowess, Heidi donned a dress made entirely of feathers.

Third place: Bella Hadid

Rochelle awarded Bella Hadid third place out of the celebrities who showcased their fashion prowess at the film festival.

The American supermodel, 27, wowed at her first red carpet of the event as she went braless in a sheer light brown dress at the premiere of The Apprentice on Monday.

She couldn’t help but smile as she left very little to the imagination in the knee-length, halter neck frock.

Her next red carpet saw her put on a stunning display in a sweeping black gown with a plunging décolletage as she attended the premiere of L’Amour Ouf (Beating Hearts) on Thursday evening.

Just hours earlier Bella made a public show of support for Palestine amid the Israel-Gaza conflict as she stepped out wearing a dress fashioned from a Keffiyeh.

Outside of the Middle East and North Africa, the Keffiyeh gained popularity among pro-Palestinian activists; it is widely considered to be an symbol of solidarity with the Palestinians in their fight against Israel.

Bella, whose father is Palestinian real estate businessman Mohamed Hadid and mother is Dutch model Yolanda Hadid, made the nod to the country while out during the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday.

Fourth place: Anya Taylor-Joy

She later vamped up her look in a plunging 1920s fringed minidress with evening gloves and a glittering silver necklace to head to the show's after-party
Looking chic in an outfit reminiscent of Marylin Monroe's, Anya opted for cherry red lipstick and cat-eye sunglasses

Anya Taylor-Joy secured Rochelle’s fourth spot, with the celebrity stylist explaining: ‘Her looks have been a mix of what I would call modern classics.

‘She mixes old school glam Hollywood style with elements of modern chic thrown in. From the classic long dresses to the fringe styles, big hats and glasses she has nailed this look.

‘I think it shows her love for the classics but also adds her personality to the mix,’ concluded the fashion expert.

Personal stylist Lisa Talbot echoed this, telling MailOnline: ‘Whilst many celebrities chose to wear white figure-hugging gowns, Anya chose a champagne glittering ballgown by Dior with statement jewellery.

‘She kept her look tasteful and showed respect to the elegance of Cannes,’ insisted Lisa.

Anya injected a dose of Old Hollywood glamour into this year’s festival – as she flaunted a classy selection of flashy ensembles.

The actress was the image of elegance in a series of vintage inspired gowns, dresses and statement hats that hark back to the silver-screen stars of the 1920s and 30s.

Beads, sequins, low-cuts and timeless silhouettes all made her shine, including at the promotion for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, when she wore a glitzy headdress.

She donned a Jil Sander cropped cream jacket and matching pencil skirt with fringe detail, adding a gothic edge to her look with lashings of dark eye-shadow.

In line with the Gatsby-inspired aesthetics she’s been sporting, Anya also walked the red carpet in a shimmering strapless Dior ballgown – and later vamped up her look in a plunging 1920s fringed minidress with evening gloves and a glittering silver necklace to head to the show’s after-party.

In another outfit, the actress put on a racy display in a silver cardigan encrusted in sparkly diamonds, beads and sequins – which she teamed with retro-style black shorts.

Elsewhere, the star teamed a sheer white strapless dress with a huge straw hat hanging around her neck by a black strap.

5th place: Kelly Rowland

Rochelle ranked Kelly Rowland fifth place.

She said: ‘Her looks were giving old school glam and for me a red carpet.

‘The long dresses and blonde hair really gave that classic glam look. The dresses were flattering to her body shape, and I felt she showed off her curves in all the right places.

She concluded: ‘The outfit colour palettes, short blonde hair really showed off the simpleness of her jewellery and looked amazing on her skin tone.’

While Kelly made headlines at the Cannes Film Festival for appearing to scold a security guard while walking the red carpet on Tuesday, it should not distract from her series of impressive ensembles.

Kelly stole the show in lime green attire, an ideal colour combination for her skin tone. Instead of donning a dress, she switched it up and went for an embellished low-rise mermaid skirt and crop top.

Elsewhere, the 43-year-old singer went for a classic Old Hollywood look with a striking one-shoulder off-white dress.

The effectiveness of her attire was heightened with her new haircut – a stylish bleach blonde bob. The hairstyle elevated Kelly’s look – adding an edgy touch to her elegant ensembles.

6th place: Demi Moore

Rochelle awarded Demi sixth place, saying: ‘She looked great in all of her outfits and a lot of her choices, even from the Met Gala were daring.

‘I like that she is taking the risk with standout pieces and not sticking to what she is comfortable in. And if the style of the dresses wasn’t daring enough; the colours certainly added to it.

‘They were bold in both style, colour and statement and it was nice to see her comeback be strong in terms of fashion, leaving a lasting impression and statement.’

The American Ghost actress, 61, returned to the Cannes red carpet in her first appearance at the event since 1997.

Demi, who was one of the go-to film stars in the 1990s, is making her unexpected return in slasher-horror ‘The Substance’, which competed for the festival’s top prize, the Palme d’Or.

She commanded attention at the star-studded event with her glamorous ensembles, opting for an extravagant silk gown, a blue bejewelled frock and a red beaded strapless Armani Privé gown.

On Thursday, Demi Moore looked simply stunning in a plunging sparkling silver gown that clung to her enviable figure.

The sensational outfit featured nude panels running along the front and highlighted her ample cleavage.

She accessorised the gown with a large statement diamond necklace. Her long raven tresses cascaded down in a sleek style.

Earlier on the red carpet she had donned a cowl-neck white dress with a high side split and a long train.

SIENNA MILLER

While Sienna Miller (pictured) ranked bottom on the list, her look still impressed at the premiere of her film Horizon: An American Saga during Cannes Film Festival

Fashion expert Rochelle ranked Sienna Miller last. She explained: ‘I feel Sienna has that Boho Chic style and that is very true for me in the dress that she was seen.

‘It was floaty dreamy and had ruffles, it was well fitted and had sexy sheer element to it, which helped create an elegant feel.

‘The style of the mixed jeans, high pants/ boxers and tweed jacket look didn’t hit the mark for me.

‘I feel the look she was going for was a relaxed glam with chic on top and I don’t feel it was pulled off the best.’

Rochelle concluded: ‘I would of paired the blazer with fitted jeans to give a more relaxed casual stylish look and feel.’

While Sienna ranked bottom on the list, her look still impressed at the premiere of her film Horizon: An American Saga during Cannes Film Festival.

The actress, 42, put on an ethereal display in a semi-sheer gown as she arrived on the red carpet with boyfriend Oli Green, 27, and lookalike daughter Marlowe, 11.

The Anatomy of a Scandal star commanded attention in a flowing lavender gown with layers of ruffles. The sheer material of the draped dress allowed a glimpse of Sienna’s incredible figure in a plunging playsuit underneath.

Adding a touch of sparkle to the ensemble, the Golden Globe nominee sported a diamond necklace. Sienna added silver strappy heels to give herself an extra few inches and a bright pink lipstick for a pop of colour.

During another event at the festival, Sienna looked every inch the glamorous film star in a sexy black dress.

She showed off her incredible figure in the slinky, figure-hugging black dress as she stepped out – just four months after welcoming her second child.
