With Ghostbusters Day fast approaching, organizers behind the annual New York City fan gathering at Hook & Ladder 8, franchise group The Buffalo Ghostbusters, have provided an update on this year’s live entertainment and special guests.
Among those attending, The Buffalo Ghostbusters confirmed actor John Rothman, who played the Library Administrator in the original Ghostbusters and made a surprise cameo appearance in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Also announced will be guest Joe Cirillo, marking his third year as an event headliner. Cirillo played the Police Captain in the ’84 film, seen during the containment unit shutdown scene. Both will be meeting fans and signing autographs, priced at $30 each.
Other returning guests include the award-winning Alessi Bros., who performed the unforgettable track “Saving the Day.” Featured on the Ghostbusters soundtrack, the song is best remembered as the backing anthem during the film’s third act, when the city of New York rallies behind the khaki-clad heroes.
The Philadelphia-based band The Mad Splatter will also perform outside the famed firehouse. A group of hardcore Ghostbusters fans, the band is coming off the release of their ghostbustin’ music video for Zombie Vs. Vampire, which we’ve got queued up below.
Similar to previous years, charity is the event’s driving force, with efforts set to go towards The Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Founded in tribute to New York Fire Department firefighter Stephen Siller, who was killed during the September 11 attacks, the foundation helps families of September 11, first responders, and veterans rebuild. For those who’d like to help, donations are now live.
Set for Saturday, June 8th, Hook & Ladder 8’s Ghostbusters Day celebration is open to all, marking the franchise’s 40th anniversary.
