The clash between Taylor and Kanye West began at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when the rapper publicly humiliated the singer by saying Beyoncé deserved her award. When Taylor took to the stage to give her acceptance speech for Best Female Video, Kanye famously stormed the stage to interrupt.

He said: “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!” Ye eventually apologised before doing something similar at the awards in 2015.

It was after the release of Famous that Taylor decided she was done, saying at the time: “And I was like, ‘OK, good. We’re back on good terms.’ And then when I heard the song, I was like, ‘I’m done with this. If you want to be on bad terms, let’s be on bad terms, but just be real about it.'” The track features the lyrics: “I feel like me and Taylor Swift might still have sex. Why? I made that b***h famous.”

Kim Kardashian

The two starts have been embroiled in a feud for almost a decade, with Taylor recently reigniting the drama when she opened up about the impact it had on her. She said Kim “took her down psychologically” and branded the reality star and her ex-husband Kanye West “trash”.

The row all started when Kim jumped to Kanye’s defence after he wrote vulgar lyrics about the singer, with Kim jumping to her husband’s defence. Kim shared footage of Kanye getting verbal approval [from Swift] for the reference by phone. Afterwards, Kim posted a Twitter message about snakes, which many assumed was aimed at Taylor. Speaking to GQ later, Kim accused Taylor of “playing the victim” and said the singer even promised to laugh about the song at the Grammy Awards. However, a spokesperson for Taylor said in a statement: “Taylor does not hold anything against Kim Kardashian as she recognises the pressure Kim must be under and that she is only repeating what she has been told by Kanye West.

“However, that does not change the fact that much of what Kim is saying is incorrect.” However, when Taylor launched her Reputation tour in Arizona back in 2016 she decorated the stage on snakes and made a very barbed comment, which many believed was aimed at Kim. She also recently released the single, thanK you aIMee, which fans believe is about Kim based on the capitalization.

Taylor’s years-long feud with Katy Perry played out in the public eye, but it now seems the pair have let bygones be bygones. It is believed the feud dates back to over 10 years ago when three of Katy’s dancers accepted jobs as dancers for Taylor’s Red tour.

Reports say that the dancers left Taylor’s tour before it ended to join Katy on her Prismatic tour, which is what started the feud. Hinting at the backing dancer drama to Rolling Stone in 2014, Taylor spoke about her Bad Blood hit and then addressed the feud.

“It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me,” she spilled. But thins began to look up in May 2017 when Katy spoke about the feud publicly.

In June 2019 ahead of Taylor’s Lover album being released, Katy shared a snap of some cookies that she and Taylor presumably baked together. The plate that the cookies sat on had red icing that read: “Peace at last,” with Katy writing: “Feels good,” in the caption.

Later that month, fans were overjoyed when Katy appeared in the music video for Taylor’s second single from Lover – You Need To Calm Down. Katy could be seen dressed as a hamburger at the end of the video, while Taylor wore a costume that resembled a cardboard box of french fries.

And earlier this year, Firework hitmaker Katy flew to Australia to catch her “old friend” Taylor begin her Eras Tour in Sydney. Posing together in a rare, intimate selfie in February, the two looked happier than ever as the pair reunited at the Accor Stadium.

“Got to see an old friend shine tonight,” Katy penned alongside the smiling snap, uploading a carousel of clips and images of her VIP treatment. Taylor clearly gave her the best seats in the house, right at the front of the stage, joined by singer Rita Ora.

Nicki Minaj

Taylor and Nicki Minaj once fell out over the MTV Video Music Awards. The Anaconda singer took to Twitter to complain about her nominations at the awards, writing: “If I was a different ‘kind’ of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well.”

“When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.” Taylor, who received a total of nine nods, felt targeted by some of Nicki’s cryptic tweets and replied: “I’ve done nothing but love and support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.” Nicki claimed it was not directed at her and all was peaceful again as Taylor invited her on stage at the ceremony weeks after.

Damon Albarn

In January 2022, the singer got into a social media argument with English musician Damon Albarn after he claimed during an interview with the Los Angeles Times she should not call herself a songwriter if she is not the only creative credited on a track. He said: “I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who cowrites. Doesn’t mean that the outcome can’t be really great.” Taylor described the comments as “damaging” as she accused the musician of trying to “discredit” her writing.

She tweeted at the time: “I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really f—ked up to try and discredit my writing. PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering.”

The popstar’s former collaborator John Paul White also defended her, tweeting: “I can personally guarantee that she was a major part of the songwriting on Safe and Sound. She proved to be one of the best I’ve ever worked with. Selfless, generous, insightful, nuanced – with a CLEAR understanding of the assignment.”

One hour later, Albarn apologised to Taylor saying: “I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand.”
