Country singer Colt Ford’s condition revealed as he ‘remains in the ICU’ after heart attack

He’s having a “slow ride” back to health.

Country singer and rapper Colt Ford, 53, is reportedly on the mend following his heart attack on Thursday night.

“Ford remains in the ICU, with his condition steadily improving in a positive direction,” reps for his team told People on Monday.

“At this time, his family is requesting privacy and appreciates your continued thoughts and prayers.”

Ford — nee Jason Farris Brown — first rose to prominence as a professional golfer before turning to music, putting out his first album in 2008. 

He’s best known for songs such as “Slow Ride,” “Times We Had,” “Dirt Road Anthem” and “Must Be the Country.” 

In the past, he has collaborated with various stars including Jake Owen, Chase Rice, Walker Hayes, Toby Keith, Lady A and Willie Nelson.

Ford had just finished his set at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row — a restaurant and night club named after the hit singer — in Gilbert, Ariz., when he had the medical emergency on Thursday night. 

He was transported to Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, where he was placed in the intensive care unit. 

He was later transferred to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, a rep for Ford told The Post. Following that incident, Ford was reportedly in stable yet critical condition, but his reps have told People that he’s “steadily improving.”

Before his hospitalization, he had been scheduled to perform at two other venues in Nevada and Arizona over the weekend.

Ford has had various health issues in the past. 

In 2022, Ford was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, a chronic neuromuscular autoimmune disease that causes weakness in the voluntary muscles. 

“It hadn’t really affected my throat, but it really affected my eye. I had no control over my right eye,” Colt told Taste of Country in 2023. “It really messes with your vision. I could see perfectly out of either eye, but then I would look together and I’d see three of you and you would be melting together like a lava lamp.”

A year earlier he announced he was diagnosed with eye cancer but escaped needing full chemotherapy because it was detected early.

“The doctor told me I was a week to 10 days from having to go on full chemo,” he told People at the time.

In May of 2023, Ford told Taste of Country, “I’ve gotten in a lot better shape, and I just feel great. My life is in a great place. I’m getting married in October. I found my person,” he said, referring to his now-wife, Megan. 

“And I’m just as happy and excited as I’ve ever been about music, which is kind of hard to believe. I feel like I’m not even done making my best music.”
