Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith pulled out of the UK “Celebrity Big Brother” final on Friday night after his niece announced her cancer diagnosis.
“Following today’s news, I will not be attending tonight’s Celebrity Big Brother final,” he wrote on X.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my fellow Housemates and to everyone involved in the making of this brilliant show,” he added. “I hope you all enjoy your special night.”
In a separate post, Carole Middleton’s younger brother — who was the first house guest eliminated this season — assured fans that any content of him was taken before he “was aware of the sad news regarding [his] niece Kate.”
He also urged his followers to refrain from asking more questions about her health and to put to rest the growing speculation about the princess’ whereabouts.
“I hope this draws a line over the continued speculation and horrible conspiracies,” he added. “Let’s give Kate, William & the children time and show some love back.”
His decision to skip the taping came just hours after Kate released an emotional video detailing her secret battle with cancer.
In the clip, the Princess of Wales, 42, revealed that she is currently undergoing “preventative” chemotherapy after doctors discovered cancerous cells during her abdominal surgery in January.
“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”
Despite her efforts to keep things under wraps, the internet quickly ran rampant with theories about her disappearance from the public eye.
The speculation became so widespread that one of Goldsmith’s co-stars asked him what happened to Kate while filming.
When asked where Kate was by fellow contestant Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, Goldsmith became visibly flustered and explained that he couldn’t offer any details because Kate clearly “doesn’t want to talk about it.”
“If it’s announced, I’ll give you an opinion,” he said, noting that there is a certain “code of etiquette” he must follow when it comes to his family in the royal household.

“I spoke to her mum — my sister — and she is getting the best care in the world,” he added.
Kate shared the same sentiment in Friday’s announcement, saying she has “a fantastic
medical team who have taken great care” of her.
“I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal, in my mind, body and spirits,” she said.
