David Njoku celebrity softball game June 8 at Classic Park

A year after Browns cornerback Greg Newsome was the host for the annual celebrity softball game each summer at Classic Auto Group Park, David Njoku is taking over the host duties as the featured celebrity this year.

The Lake County Captains announced March 18 the Browns tight end will be the host for the game on June 8.

Tickets for the event go on sale to the general public March 20 at 10 a.m. at captainsbaseball.com. Captains’ passport members can buy event tickets on March 19.

Gates open June 8 at 2 p.m. with a home run derby at 4 p.m., then the game following the derby.

Last year’s event was highlighted by the Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell winning the home run derby contest.

Celebrities for the game will be announced at a later date.

Previous celebrities who have attended the event include two-time UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, Chiefs Super Bowl winning tight end Travis Kelce, former Browns cornerback Joe Haden — who served as the host celebrity — Bernie Kosar  and many other former and current Browns players.
