From the Golden Globes in January to the Oscars this past weekend, Hollywood has been nonstop on the red carpet for awards shows. Now that awards season 2024 has drawn to a close, it’s only right we do a deep dive on where the stars rank of best dressed overall.
- Ayo Edebiri: Starting the awards season as a relative fashion unknown, Edebiri has become the leading fashion star of this awards season with one fashion hit after the next. From the Luar plaid gown to the minimal white suit by The Row, Edebiri showed range and knowledge.
2. Greta Lee: With a mostly Loewe-driven wardrobe, Lee proves again and again that effortless style is part of her DNA.
3. Carey Mulligan: The Balenciaga gown at the Oscars alone ensured Mulligan a spot on the best dressed of all season list. She’s stuck mostly with black-and-white tailored dresses, however when she adventured in metallic with Armani Privè at the SAGs it was a Hollywood Golden Era-inspired hit.
4. Billie Eilish: What she’s done in this awards season is no easy task. Originally a one-brand girl, she’s shown that there is so much more within her fashion repertoire.
5. Lily Gladstone: Her understanding of the power of fashion as a platform to highlight independent Indigenous designers has proven to be a successful combination. The final look, a collaboration between Gucci and Joe Big Mountain of Ironhouse Quillwork, brought it all full circle.
6. Emma Corrin: Though their red carpets were limited, every time was so full of ideas and ahead of runway. They’re not wearing clothes, they’re setting the tone.
7. Sandra Hüller: Hüller has shown a great fashion evolution from the beginning of the season, with recent highlights including the silver Louis Vuitton at the BAFTAs and the black sculptural Schiaparelli at the Oscars.
8. Da’Vine Joy Randolph: Another new face on the red carpet, Randolph has brought drama, and glamour, from her mega-sleeve Louis Vuitton Oscars look to her draped extravaganza by Robert Wun at the BAFTAs.
9. Colman Domingo: This largely hasn’t been a menswear boundary pushing season, yet Domingo is the exception. A mustard-colored silk suit by Valentino at the Critics’ Choice Awards and a sleek morning coat evening ensemble at the Emmys were examples of his range.
10. Dominic Sessa: Although he’s not a musician, he’s captured that ’70s rock and roll vibe all awards season long. His consistency has paid off, landing him in the final spot of the top 10.
