“I enjoy commando,” she said, adding that the only downside was the fact that her daughter, armed with this information, delights in pulling her trousers down when she least expects it.

Miley Cyrus caused a stir at the Grammys recently when she appeared to leave certain family members out of her thank yous after winning record of the year in February.

But she raised a laugh from the room when she wrapped up her acceptance speech with the words, “I don’t think I’ve forgotten anyone, but I might have forgotten underwear. Bye!” as she walked offstage.

Musician Lenny Kravitz inadvertently revealed that he didn’t wear underwear back in 2015 when he suffered a wardrobe malfunction in front of thousands. Squatting down on stage in Sweden wearing a pair of tight leather trousers, the subsequent rip at the crotch left little to the imagination.

Two years later, when asked whether he’d changed his habits since the incident, he told Mr Porter: “Do I have any underwear on now? No. Thus the problems that I incur.”

5. Martha Stewart

As an 82-year-old grandmother and cultural icon, Martha Stewart is well past being coy in interviews. When talking to US media in February, she said she didn’t bother with underwear, but wore swimming costumes under her clothes instead.
“I don’t wear any of that structured stuff. No tight lace, no Skims for Martha. I only wear Eres bathing suits under my clothes,” she said.

6. Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey’s big break came when he was cast in 1993’s cult classic Dazed and Confused. During a conversation with his friend Sam Lawrence that was recorded in Melissa Maerz’s book The Oral History of Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused, McConaughey corrects Lawrence’s suggestion that he had initially refused to meet the film’s casting director because he was stoned and in his underwear.

“No. I’ve never worn underwear,” the actor counters definitively.

Back in 2014, Bradley Cooper admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that he wasn’t wearing any underwear during a formal state dinner at the White House. The event – hosted by then president Barack Obama for French president Francois Hollande – required the actor to wear a tuxedo, which he said was a struggle as he’d recently put on weight for a role.

“[The trousers] were crazy-town tight,” he told DeGeneres. “I had to go commando.”

8. Chrissy Teigen

Numerous female celebrities have gone pantless for the sake of fashion over the years, but it was Chrissy Teigen who misjudged just how much was on show when she donned a slinky Yousef Akbar dress slit to the waist to the AMAs in 2016.

“Apologies to anyone harmed mentally or physically by my hooha,” she wrote on Instagram afterwards, even jokingly giving a shoutout to her laser hair removal team. The former Sports Illustrated model had previously told E! News she often went sans underwear, saying simply: “I just don’t … like it.”
