What’s inside £138,435 Oscars 2024 goodie bags celebrities will receive tomorrow

Moviemakers and film stars will be out in full force in Los Angeles on Sunday (10 March) as the biggest night on the cinematic calendar arrives.

Hollywoods elite will be clearing a spot on their mantlepieces tonight in the hopes of taking home an award at the Oscars, which takes place at the Dolby Theatre tomorrow.

But those who don’t end up taking home a trophy won’t leave empty handed, as they will have a whopping £138,435 worth of swag to soften the blow if they lose out at the awards ceremony.

The Oscars goodie bags are an infamous perk of attending the coveted award show and are often filled with freebies that are not only bizarre, but also collectively worth thousands.

And this year is no different – as the ‘Everyone Wins’ gift bags – which are unaffiliated with the Academy – are brimming with weird and wonderful presents ranging from lavish holidays, a portable infrared grill and dog food.

The bags of expensive booty are sent out to acting and directing nominees each year by the LA-based ‘niche marketing company’, Distinctive Assets, with the firm’s co-founder Lash Fary earning the nickname the ‘sultan of swag’.

It’s his 22nd year of supplying the gift bags, so he’s certainly got the knack of it by now – and he insists that although it may seem over-the-top to some people, it’s a super smart business move.

Fary told NBC: “For someone who says it’s overindulgent to give these nominees a six-figure gift bag, I would simply tell them to enroll in a marketing class at their local community college. It’s so straightforward what this is.”

He said the ‘biggest names in the world sprinkle stardust’ on everything they touch, so the items which they are seen pulling out of their Oscars goodie bags have the potential to ‘change the trajectory’ for the business who provided the gift.

Fary added: “Every year we only gift the top acting and directing nominees, which is 25 people, and then we always throw in one for the host, so cutie pie Jimmy Kimmel‘s getting one too.”

What’s inside the gift bags?

At this year’s Oscars, the lucky buggers who get their hands on one of the bags will be treated more than 50 gifts which have a total value of around £138,435 ($178,000), according to the marketing whizz.

Stars will open them up to find a string of wellness products – such as liver pills and pro-glutathione supplements – as well as electrical items such as grills and blenders, on top of treats such as cookies, gummy sweets, gin and tequila.

They can boost their brain power with the retro-themed Rubik’s Cube’s which pays homage to the puzzle’s 50th anniversary, while overhauling their luggage collections with a new luxury shoe bag, artisan backpacks and handbags.

Other items include a £400 ($515) five-piece luxury skincare gift set from Miage, a £7,777 ($10,000) micro-needling treatment from Cynosure, a red light sleep therapy device and up-cycled designer pillows.

On top of all that, there will also be 10,000 pet meals via Peta’s Global Compassion Fund, luxury kitchen appliances, a portable purse seat, a Thor Kitchen wine fridge, a portable infrared grill and blender, expensive sugar and an in-home sleep consultation.

As well as a £19,443 ($25,000) private show with mentalist Carl Christman, a few enviable holidays are also up for grabs.

A-listers can enjoy a stunning £18,665 ($24,000) seven-day retreat at the Golden Door California, a £38,886 ($50,000) retreat in a ski chalet in the Swiss Alps with up to nine friends and three nights on the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy.

Who will be getting them?

The likes of Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Colman Domingo, Lily Gladstone and America Ferrera are among the lucky stars who will receive an Oscar’s goodie bag.

Fary added: “While this gift bag does, as always, have an impressive six-figure value, that is neither our focus, nor goal.

“Just as any A-list actor doesn’t ‘need’ millions of dollars to walk onto a film set, these gifts are given based on the invaluable stardust these nominees can bestow upon a brand.”
