Celebrity Big Brother fans fume they don’t know most of rumoured cast

Celebrity Big Brother fans have slammed the rumoured lineup for the new series as ‘dreadful’, saying they barely recognise any of the names.

The reboot of the reality series is set to launch on March 4, six years from when it was last broadcast on Channel 5 in August 2018.

ITV bosses have reportedly spent a massive £2 million on a number of high-profile stars for the programme after the civilian version proved to be a huge hit last year.

The latest celebrities who are in talks to take part include Heartstopper actor Bradley Riches, Dragon’s Den success story Levi Roots and reality star David Potts.

Other names said to be in talks to take part include former Love Island winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu and ex X Factor judge Louis Walsh, among many more.

However, the reaction to the stars rumoured to be taking part has been that of disappointment, with many fans complaining that they are barely even celebrities.

Several have taken to social media to say they won’t be tuning in to watch and predicting the series will ‘flop’, as they have had to Google the names to know who they are.

One person wrote: ‘I’ve heard of three of them…. mis-selling the word Celebrity’ while another added: ‘I am getting old. I only know five of these housemates.’

A third echoed: ‘Me over here just googling 90% of these ‘celebrities’’ while another said: ‘Well what an absolute dreadful lineup that is, call it the Z-list.’

A fifth agreed, saying: ‘Kate Middletons UNCLE we’re really calling ANYONE a celeb these days ffs’ while a sixth wrote: ‘I don’t know who most of these people are! Just wondering what their interpretation of celebrity is?’

Someone else tweeted: ‘I know of 5 of them.. which is not bad by Channel 5 #CBB standards but not gonna lie, for the comeback series with an @ITV budget rather than C5 peanuts I was hoping for better’.

While another fumed: ‘Incredibly poor line up, even worse than the C5 series. Will flop spectacularly’.

A ninth declared: ‘When you have to Google 80% of a line up, it’s not a good line up! Disappointed to say the least!’

And a tenth said: ‘i had high hopes… if this is true i wont be watching’ while another added: ‘Who knew Channel 5 had more pull than ITV. Awful list.’

It has been reported that Louis, 71, reportedly reached a huge six-figure deal for him to enter the house.

He is thought to be set to reunite with his former X Factor colleague Sharon Osbourne in the house, as she is also said to be taking part.

However, the TV personality, 71, is not expected to stay for the full 17 days as insiders told The Sun that her fee was too expensive for ITV.

A source told the publication: ‘Sharon is a guest housemate and won’t be going in on launch night. Instead she will come in once the show has started and will be there for a few days.

‘The fee she wanted was eye-watering and in the end they struck a deal which meant she would go in for a shorter run.

‘It’s worked out well for everyone as she will inject some drama when she finally walks through the doors.’

While actor Bradley, 24, who is gay and autistic, is reportedly hoping his appearance on the iconic reality series will help with representation.

Ibiza Weekender’s David, 30, has already exhausted the reality circuit, also appearing on Celebs Go Dating, Celebs on the Farm, Celebrity Karaoke Club and Celebrity Ghost Trip.

While social media star Zeze Mills, 35, is expected to be relied upon for some dramatic clashes, as her show bio reads: ‘If we can get them in a room with Zeze… It’s gloves off.’

US actress Marisha Wallace, 38, will be hoping to follow the success of previous big American personalities on the show.

While Ekin-Su’s entrance into the house would come at a good time for the reality star, 29, after she recently from her ex-boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti earlier this year.

This Morning’s Fern Britton, 66, could also bring lots of juicy gossip, as it’s been reported that she has no intention on ‘holding back’ from shedding light on her past feud with Phillip Schofield.

‘She wants to show the public a different side to her — unscripted and unapologetic,’ a source told The Sun

‘She has a lot of stories to tell and she won’t hold back when it comes to her relationships with people like Phil.

‘They don’t speak anymore so there are no bridges to burn as far as she is concerned.’

The outspoken businessman could be entering at the perfect time too, as the Princess of Wales has dominated the internet recently due to her ‘disappearance’ after her abdominal surgery.

It comes after ITV – who announced plans to reboot the reality series in 2022 – released its first promotional trailer on Monday.

The broadcaster is looking to build on the success of their Big Brother revival, which drew in 3.6million viewers across ITV1, STV ITV2 and ITVX following its launch in 2023.

The 40-second clip captures each celebrity concealing their identity while hiding from paparazzi photographers and adoring fans in a variety of settings.

Celebrity Big Brother will see a new cast of famous faces isolated from the outside world as they embark on the ultimate social experiment, taking up residence in the iconic Big Brother house.

Celebrity Big Brother starts on March 4 on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player.
