The Masked Singer treated viewers when TWO celebrities were unmasked last night (3rd February).

Air Fryer, Eiffel Tower, Piranha, Maypole, Cricket, Bigfoot, and Dippy Egg all took to the stage to impress as Sir Lenny Henry joined Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall on the panel.

Sadly, it was time to say goodbye to two contestants.

Presenter Joel Domment told the audience that Dippy Egg would be out of the competition, and they were revealed to be presenter and journalist Nicky Campbell.

Nicky presents Long Lost Family alongside Davina, and after escaping detection from the panel for weeks, it’s fair to say she was surprised.

Davina joined Nicky onstage and got a little emotional as she told the audience: “This is the best surprise, better than any birthday. I love this man!

“Nicky’s a friend, we’ve been working together for thirteen years, and I can not believe I didn’t recognise your voice, I didn’t recognise your singing voice. I know your singing voice. This is insane!”

Speaking about his experience and what it was like to surprise his co-presenter, Nicky said: “Oh, she was emotional. I was emotional at the end doing the song again. It was incredible.”

Joel then revealed Maypole would also be out of the competition, and they were unmasked to be Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton.

She also managed to avoid being identified, with the panel throwing out names like Janelle Monáe, Katy B and bandmate Kimberley Wyatt over the last few weeks.

After the unmasking, Rita said: “Hearing your voice and tone, of course it’s you!”

Following her elimination, Melody said: “I loved that they thought it was Rita at first because she wasn’t on the panel!  I said it out there, and I’ll say it again. Two of my band mates were mentioned, which actually I was like, ‘Yes. Good. Yeah, go that way.’ Even though it’s too close.  When you’ve been in a group, you’ll always be a part of that.”

Next week, Lorraine Kelly returns as a special guest panellist after being unmasked as Owl

The Masked Singer returns for the semi-final next Saturday (February 10) on ITV1 and ITVX.
